Eze. 6:13

13 Then shall ye know [yada] that I am the LORD [Yahovah], when their slain [chalal] men shall be among [tavek] their idols [gilluwl] round about [cabiyb] their altars [mizbeach], upon every high [ruwm] hill [gib`ah], in all the tops [ro'sh] of the mountains [har], and under every green [ra`anan] tree [ets], and under every thick [aboth] oak [elah], the place [maqowm] where they did offer [nathan] sweet [nichowach] savour [reyach] to all their idols [gilluwl]. KJV-Interlinear

13 'Then you will know that I am the LORD, when their slain are among their idols around their altars, on every high hill, on all the tops of the mountains, under every green tree, and under every leafy oak — the places where they offered soothing aroma to all their idols. NASB

The soothing aroma is something that can be smelled. The smoke is something which can be seen, perhaps even felt. He crackling of the fire, which causes the smoke of the offering, or incense of effort, can be heard. When a smoke is pleasant to the nose, then even a taste can be sensed, such that all five senses of this temporal life enter into the offerings which are made daily by the common individual to their routine, which they have chosen as their pattern of life.

Negative people choose a life style which rejects God and embraces that which has no means to see, hear, feel, taste or smell. And, certainly cannot reward them for their efforts or hopes in life.

Even though we are surrounded with many proofs that God has a hand in this universe, and in life, and in history, the greater part of the worlds population rejects God and tries to invent some alternative god or higher plane of existence, or alternative destiny.

Then there are believers who have the introduction to God and doctrine, and have all of the advantages of knowing the truth and opportunities for advancing to a greater life, but they too rebel against God, giving themselves to other beliefs (adultery), and selling themselves (harlot) over to the pleasures of the world through their alternate priorities (work, hobbies, pleasures, wants, desires, etc.).

This is an investment is the dead horse we used as an illustration the other day. People are tranquilized, mesmerized, hypnotized by their chosen patterns of life. The world around them is real because it is based on the five senses, and their logic or reason, which too is based on their five senses. The world, which can be seen and measured, is also a matter of convenience and fulfilling to the immediate desires or security ideas that people have.

The spiritual is another matter. It is a little more difficult to grasp. After all how can one measure or even gauge that which cannot be measured or even seen. Faith is the toughest part of the spiritual life.

The hills are impressive in life. The mountains are impressive in life. The leafy oak rises tall and it too is impressive in life. So goes the goals and efforts in life which people set for themselves. Some small, some grand, but all are useless if God is not in them.

The praise of accomplishment, the incense of merit all belong to God, not to self. We are to be content with where God places us in life. We may be small on this planet, or we may be great in mans eyes, but regardless of our station we are to look to God who placed us where we are.

It is God who will elevate the 'mature' believer to heights greater than anything that any man can accomplish, ever, on his own. But man tries as he may, to elevate himself to a place that will end up in destruction, rather than letting go and giving the controls of ones life over to God.

Then Ezekiel states Gods own words, 'That you will know.'

Some people will get this early in their life and pursue their spiritual life with a vigor and a fear. A fear that there is more to worry about if God were to withhold Himself from you, than there is to fear from the world. God is very real to them, because He is real.

Your spiritual life is your greatest asset, your greatest possession of value. Throw it away and you will discover too late just what, 'That you will know,' really means.

Some have to have many hard knocks in their life before they come to recognize Christ as real and that the Bible is more real than anything else in life. Some will wait until their life is over and then they will come to know the Lord when they meet Him face to face, and too late to understand their phenomenal failure in life. Don't you wait until your life is over.

Nothing wrong with having plans (legitimate ones) in life, just pursue them from within Gods will, rather than outside of it. The meaning and purpose and results of your life will be far, far better.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
