Eze. 38:15-16

15 And thou shalt come [bow'] from thy place [maqowm] out of the north [tsaphown] parts [yarekah], thou, and many [rab] people [`am] with thee, all of them riding [rakab] upon horses [cuwc], a great [gadowl] company [qahal], and a mighty [rab] army [chayil]:

16 And thou shalt come up [`alah] against my people [`am] of Israel [Yisra'el], as a cloud [`anan] to cover [kacah] the land ['erets]; it shall be in the latter ['achariyth] days [yowm], and I will bring [bow'] thee against my land ['erets], that the heathen [gowy] may know [yada`] me, when I shall be sanctified [qadash] in thee, O Gog [Gowg], before their eyes [`ayin]. 15 And you will come from your place out of the remote parts of the north, you and many peoples with you, all of them riding on horses, a great assembly and a mighty army; 16 and you will come up against My people Israel like a cloud to cover the land. It will come about in the last days that I shall bring you against My land, in order that the nations may know Me when I shall be sanctified through you before their eyes, O Gog. NASB

Jesus Christ controls history. Man cannot do anything in life unless God allows it.

In eternity past, God looked down through the tunnel of time and considered all of the infinite possibilities for history. All of the possibilities include placing people into history at various points in time. Considering all of their thoughts, motives, decisions, and actions, and then God selected the course of history, which would benefit each of us the most.

That selection is what we call the Divine Decrees. It does not interfere with anyone s thought process. It does not interfere with anyone s actions in history.

God in his sovereignty, placed into history, those people who will live in the Tribulation, knowing what decisions that they would make. By knowing and permitting their actions, by controlling birth and death, God in effect controls the flow of history, which most benefits His plan.

Bad people are permitted to be bad, but eventually they will get their due (discipline or judgment). Good people (spiritually mature) can be good, and sooner or later, though they might have to endure difficulties, they will also get their due (blessing).

No one can defeat God. He knows ahead of time, everything you will think, decide, and do. He of course makes arrangements for those whom He will save and/or judge. He knows their thoughts, and their actions given all of the circumstances that they will face.

God also has many other arrows, which He can use in controlling history. For example, a huge earthquake will shake the entire world right at the end of the Tribulation. That will have an impact on the aggressors on earth, and it will provide a certain level of protection for the victims. Disasters are not always intended exclusively for harm. Often times much good can come out of a disaster.

The king of the north will attack in all of his fury. He will plan with premeditation. He will know that what he is doing is wrong and in violation of all that is good. Lust for greed and power always drive oneself and all that participate, to their doom. They all join in that same lust. They all join in the same judgment.

This attack against Israel will seem successful at first, but in the end, Israel will be delivered and God will be glorified for that deliverance.

The armies of the northern kingdom will soon lie on many battlefields, as food for the birds.

Ex. 9:16

16 But, indeed, for this cause I have allowed you to remain, in order to show you My power, and in order to proclaim My name through all the earth. NASB

Pharaoh had to learn the hard way and so too, the powers of earth will learn the hard way. Egypt fell as one of the most powerful nations on earth at the Red Sea and they never recovered. Likewise, at Armageddon the nations of the world will fall, never to rise up again.

The northern empire will plan, equip and assemble a huge army. God will allow it to rush, into His trap.
