Eze. 38:21-22

21 And I will call [qara'] for a sword [chereb] against him throughout all my mountains [har], saith [na'um] the Lord ['Adonay] GOD [Yahovih]: every man's ['iysh] sword [chereb] shall be against his brother ['ach].

22 And I will plead [shaphat] against him with pestilence [deber] and with blood [dam]; and I will rain [matar] upon him, and upon his bands ['aggaph], and upon the many [rab] people [`am] that are with him, an overflowing [shataph] rain [geshem], and great hailstones ['elgabiysh] ['eben], fire ['esh], and brimstone [gophriyth]. KJV-Interlinear

21 And I shall call for a sword against him on all My mountains, declares the Lord GOD. Every man's sword will be against his brother. 22 And with pestilence and with blood I shall enter into judgment with him; and I shall rain on him, and on his troops, and on the many peoples who are with him, a torrential rain, with hailstones, fire, and brimstone. NASB

Gog is the leader of the northern power. He intends to invade the Middle East in order to seize control of its wealth. He is warned that in doing so, he will be invading Israel and it is Israel, which God protects, not the rest of the surrounding nations. Therefore, any attack against Israel is an attack against God.

The surrounding nations represent (symbolically) the nations, which have rejected God, and are not under His protection.

Israel represents Gods chosen nation. Israel represents those people who have believed in Jesus Christ. And though the residents of Israel are Jewish and many have not believed in Christ, there will be many who will have believed in Christ, and they are the chosen and protected of God.

The world by this time will be in a state of ruin. Fresh water is in short supply, all commerce around the world is virtually destroyed, inflation is rampant, crime is skyrocketing through the roof, disaster after disaster is wreaking havoc around the world, and over half of the world s population has died.

This is just the short list of the world s problems. The king of the north is an opportunist, and is seeking to take control of the center of the world, and thus control the world while it is in a state of disarray. Still he has knowledge of Gods prophecy against him. Someone in his staff will no doubt inform him of the ancient warning. He will ignore it. He will probably scoff at it.

Gog will be more impressed with his hordes of soldiers and with his military power. By the way, hordes will become the name of the final burial ground following the Second Advent. The invasion will be so successful, that he will all but forget about the warning of his doom. He will turn back on Israel when the powers from the east and west counterattack, and he will try with all of his might, to destroy Israel.

Jerusalem will become his thorn in the side, and his eventual undoing.

The total darkness, the violent earthquakes, the smells and sounds and horrors of life all around will contribute to the extreme panic, which will seize everyone. People will fear everything around them. People will begin shooting in all directions with spontaneous reactions, killing themselves and their own comrades. The battlefield as well as everywhere else in the world will become instant chaos washed in total darkness.

God will cause a storm to come upon Gog. Just as Gog presumed to storm against the Middle East. Only, Gods storm will press on and on without diminishing, until His intended purpose is concluded.

Gods raining down of blood, pestilence, rain, hail, fire and brimstone is symbolic of a comprehensive and thorough firestorm of the violence of judgment against Gog. It won t be pretty.

Gods judgment is not arbitrary and not indiscriminant, but is a thorough application of His immutable justice combined with evidence, guilt, and the execution of a sentence against the guilty. Behold, I am against thee, O Gog.

Isa. 66:16

16 For the LORD will execute judgment by fire And by His sword on all flesh, And those slain by the LORD will be many. NASB

Zech. 14:13

13 And it will come about in that day that a great panic from the LORD will fall on them; and they will seize one another's hand, and the hand of one will be lifted against the hand of another. NASB

People without doctrine in their souls, panic easily. They make spontaneous decisions, decisions without forethought. They react to their emotions as frustration, intolerance, fear, anger, and hate consume them. Paranoia seizes them, and they in effect become their own worst enemy, destroying themselves.

This mental instability describes you if you do not get with a daily Bible study program. It certainly will be an accurate description of the entire world at some point in the future.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
