Genesis 1:9-13

9 And God [elohiym] said [amar], Let the waters [mayim] under the heaven [shamayim] be gathered together [qavah] unto [el] one [echad] place [maqowm], and let the dry [yabbashah] land appear [raah]: and it was so.
10 And God [elohiym] called [qara] the dry [yabbashah] land Earth [erets]; and the gathering together [miqveh] of the waters [mayim] called [qara] he Seas [yam]: and God [elohiym] saw [raah] that it was good [towb].
11 And God [elohiym] said [amar], Let the earth [erets] bring forth [dasha] grass [deshe], the herb [eseb] yielding [zara] seed [zera], and the fruit [pariy] tree [ets] yielding [asah] fruit [pariy] after his kind [miyn], whose [aher] seed [zera] is in itself, upon the earth [erets]: and it was so.
12 And the earth [erets] brought forth [yatsa] grass [deshe], and herb [eseb] yielding [zara] seed [zera] after his kind [miyn], and the tree [ets] yielding [asah] fruit [pariy], whose seed [zera] was in itself, after his kind [miyn]: and God [elohiym] saw [raah] that it was good [towb].
13 And the evening [ereb] and the morning [boqer] were the third [shaliyshiy] day [yowm]. KJV-Interlinear

9 Then God said, 'Let the waters below the heavens be gathered into one place, and let the dry land appear'; and it was so. 10 And God called the dry land earth, and the gathering of the waters He called seas; and God saw that it was good. 11 Then God said, 'Let the earth sprout vegetation, plants yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit after their kind, with seed in them, on the earth'; and it was so. 12 And the earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit, with seed in them, after their kind; and God saw that it was good. 13 And there was evening and there was morning, a third day. NASB

Dry land is now prepared. The earth or land was already in existence, but under the water and in no manner fit for use. But God commands the waters to go to their assigned places in the oceans, allowing the land to rise up and dry out. 'And it was so', indicates that as God willed it, then so it happened instantly.

God had already divided the light and established the atmosphere. Now He turns His attention to the visible portion of the earth, preparing a place for habitation by man and animal.

Resources hidden as the earth was hidden beneath the waters are of no use to life. To this point the planet was a lifeless place. Now God brings into the light the land and the resources that are of benefit. Just as God reveals to us His word which is a benefit to any and all who receive it, and is of no use to those who reject it, so now the land is revealed and becomes useful, or has the potential for usefulness. Bible doctrine has the potential for usefulness when it is learned and assimilated into the soul of the believer, but if it is rejected then it is no more than ink on the written page and useless.

God commanded the seas to go to their assigned places, though they have a common link in the underground waterways and thus have communication between the seas, they are refrained to their assigned boundaries and there they stay.

As the earth sometimes rebels in natures storms with hurricanes and floods, the waters recede to their assigned place after kicking up their feet so to speak. So also man kicks up his feet and rebels against God and nature and earth, but God restores the stability from the rebellion and returns mankind to his former boundaries which insures the perpetuation of the human race.

God controls history. He commands the seas and the land. He commands the atmosphere and the light. All basic ingredients for life. God is at the helm guiding the way. He named the land and the water. God describes and defines creation because His will is sovereign. It was good, because all things that come from God are good. Anything that does not come from God is not good. There is no, in between. Things are either from God or they are not. Your spiritual life is either in conformance with God's will or it is not. You cannot ride the fence and have things your own way, or have life at your convenience.

Then God commanded vegetation to sprout, each species after its own kind. All life did not come from one common source, from one beginning bit of mush in eternity past. Each variety of plant life had its own beginning and was separate from all other plant life. So God dressed the earth. And He declared His ownership of it, Hos. 2:9. All that is in the earth and all it produces belongs to God. In fact everything under creation belongs to God.

Man fights over this bit of land or that bit of territory in their futile efforts to command and control, but God owns all things and commands them from the power of His word. He but speaks and things happen. Man is infinitely inferior in this respect. But man in his arrogance fights over rulership of the little puddle without regard to the bigger picture and the reality of his foolishness.

So God dressed the earth, Hos 2:21..., God commands the heavens, and the earth, and the vegetation, and they all respond accordingly. Were it not for Gods command the seeds would not perpetuate the vegetation of the earth and life would not have food for survival. Note also that the seeds did not come first, but the vegetation came first. The chicken came before the egg and so forth. God created the pattern first and then the means for perpetuating the pattern.

The food of life is Bible doctrine. God provides this food freely. Any who partake of it and continue in its use will see the seeds of that doctrine reproduce in their soul, thus increasing God's production in you. Once learned, one has to apply doctrine in the daily life, discerning right from wrong, responsibility from irresponsibility, credit to God where it is due rather than credit to man who is undeserving.

Today we see the earthly production being influenced by the actions of the sun and the moon, the seasons, the tides and weather in general. None of which can be relied upon. Some years produce abundance, some famine, some floods. Here on the third day, none of these factors exist. God is the only source of production and the earth sprung forth abundantly and instantly at God's command.

When we sort out our priorities in life and turn to God in faith and in our daily and consistent Bible study, thus investing in our spiritual lives, then God will generate divine production in us. If we continue to rely on the world for our life resources, then we live by the jungle laws of hit and miss, of luck and strength and weakness. In the world we are totally outnumbered. But in God we have His resources and power, because His power is in His word, and His word is in us.

And so the earth rotates once again completing the next increment of Gods plan. And communicating to us step by step what he could have accomplished in an instant, but for our sakes, He is building yet another pattern of building blocks which is the pattern for our spiritual life in these six days and seventh day of rest. Have you discovered it yet?
