Genesis 1:26-28

26 And God [elohiym] said [amar], Let us make [asah] man [adam] in our image [tselem], after our likeness [damuwth]: and let them have dominion [radah] over the fish [dagah] of the sea [yam], and over the fowl [owph] of the air [shamayim], and over the cattle [bahemah], and over all the earth [erets], and over every creeping thing [remes] that creepeth [ramas] upon the earth [erets].
27 So God [elohiym] created [bara'] man [adam] in his own image [tselem], in the image [tselem] of God [elohiym] created [bara'] he him; male [zakar] and female [naqebah] created [bara'] he them.
28 And God [elohiym] blessed [barak] them, and God [elohiym] said [amar] unto them, Be fruitful [parah], and multiply [rabah], and replenish [male'] the earth [erets], and subdue it [kabash]: and have dominion [radah] over the fish [dagah] of the sea [yam], and over the fowl [owph] of the air [shamayim], and over every living thing [chay] that moveth [ramas] upon the earth [erets]. KJV-Interlinear

26 Then God said, 'Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.' 27 And God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 And God blessed them; and God said to them, 'Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.' NASB

Job 38:4, 'where was man when God laid the foundations of the earth?' Mankind was not there. Man was created last, of all the creatures. The arrogance of mankind throughout the ages is placed in its proper place. Man was created just as all other things of this universe were. Man did not create. We may discover various secrets of this universe and advance our technology, but we did not create them. We merely have learned or discovered that which God created eons ago.

Man was made the same day as the beasts of the earth, and out of the same material, the dust of the earth. But there is a difference. Man was made in the likeness of God, and the animals were not. Original man was created with a soul and a human spirit. The animals lack both of these having only a biological body for their existence.

Prov. 8:31, 'for it is of His affection that God has delighted in mankind.' In the rest of creation there was the command of authority, 'Let there be...', 'Let there be..'. God spoke and it was so. Now there is a transition. 'Let us make'. There is more of a feeling of affection in this approach, and consultation with the members of the Godhead. There is a unity of purpose in the creation of man. Create here is the word 'asah', again, to form in accordance with a pattern. In the next verse the three words for create is 'bara', to create out of nothing. Later on there will be two more words introduced, 'yatsar' to form out of a material like the dust of the earth, and 'banah' which means to construct, to build, and this is applied to the woman.

The soul of man has mental faculties, understanding, and volition. Man was made in the image of God. Not an exact image but in a resemblance as to the extent of the soul and spirit. Animals were not made in the image of God. They have neither soul nor spirit.

Man was not made in the image of animals, but was placed over them in authority over the animals and separate from them. It was not for man to interact with animals in some sinful or intimate way, but to rule them in a way of responsibility and not irresponsibility or tyranny or abuse.

Also, and this is just another note of interest. We have evidence of dinosaurs here on earth, as well as some human like forms designated Cro-Magnon and Neanderthal. This goes without saying. Recent genetic DNA studies indicate that these two classes of creatures (Cro-Magnon and Neanderthal) were not related to each other, nor are they related to present mankind. Too many differences in the DNA structures to support a relationship.

So they did not precede us as our direct ancestors, nor were they the origin of Adam and Eve. Adam and Eve were created separately after all these prehistoric creatures died off. Again, and this is obviously speculation, but perhaps these human like creatures were the objects of Satan's greatest ridicule, therefore God in His sense of humor created Adam in that pattern, therefore 'asah', to form in accordance with a pattern. God has a sense of humor and that humor lies in the promotion of humans to the right hand of the Father, where Satan, as Lucifer, once held a high office in heaven and is now replaced by that which he despised most. Just a thought. But regardless, the use of the word 'asah' to form after a pattern, implies a preexisting existence or pattern from which God used to form present man.

Ecc. 7:29, God made man upright, but man was the one that screwed things up for himself. Eph. 4:24, we are commanded to put on a new self in righteousness and truth, which is the likeness of God. John 1, and the word became flesh, refers to Jesus Christ, God who became man. Col. 3:10, we put on a new self in the likeness of Him through knowledge in Bible doctrine.

Mal. 2:15, God did not make man and woman simultaneously. He made the animal life simultaneously both male and female. But with man he made Adam first and then Eve, He made out of Adam. Thus binding the human marriage and the unity of male and female to each other and not the animal kingdom.

Luke 20:34-36, neither angels were to propagate in marriage after their own kind, but only mankind was given the ability to propagate. Likewise man could interact with animals, just as angels attempted to destroy the human race with their intermingling in chapter 6, but that was not to be the proper arrangement that God had designed for creatures. Each category of creature was to remain within their own kind. Sin however twists that all up into a distorted degeneracy and evil.

Man is given rule over the lower forms of creation, the earth, the animal kingdom. Only man tries to promote himself and rule the universe and all things he does not understand. In time God will promote man through the work of Christ on the Cross. Man did not participate in the creation of anything, nor will he be allowed to participate in the work of salvation. All of mans works are nonexistent with respect to the purpose of God. Man can neither add nor detract from God's work.

God creates in accordance with His will. Man has to propose something then do it. God has but to will it and it is accomplished. Many of us have problems in life. We have medical problems, financial problems, love life problems. The list is endless. We focus on our deficiencies and therefore have miserable attitudes of 'poor me'. But your real life is not your physical being, or your external environment, it is your soul. And the condition of your soul is what determines your future.

Animals come and go. Your physical body will come and go. The healthiest and richest people in history past are now dead. Your condition has no bearing on your future unless you allow yourself to slip into self pity and just pout your life away.

Why not be constructive and do what you could do best, learn Bible doctrine. Ignore the inconveniences of this life as they move on by. Deal with life as best you can, but from a position of strength rather than weakness. Strength comes from Bible doctrine in your soul. Weakness comes from 'poor me'.

Though we have nearly completed the restoration in this second phase of day six, we need to reflect on why God went to all the trouble to take six days to perform this series of tasks. Why not just will it on day one and have it all done with.

The importance of the creation of the human race is to resolve the angelic conflict. It is important that everyone understand that God is the ultimate creator, that God does not do things haphazardly, but in an orderly fashion. God is not the author of confusion, but of order. What God wills, He will accomplish. What God promises, He will faithfully fulfill.

We can ask what is there in all of this universe that we can look to, and the Bible demonstrates that all things were created by God. That we should not look to created things, but to God only. That we can only learn about God through His written word and from no other source.

Man was created separate from the animals of this world and we were created last. All the world was a stage set for the advent of man and in support of man. We were the last component of the plan which God conceived in eternity past.

And with the existence of man, the next move is now Satan's. Why would he even be interested in mankind? Why wouldn't Satan simply ignore man and this planet? Because there was no other action in the entire universe and Satan has a sentence pending against him. He has to prove God wrong in order to escape his penalty of the lake of fire.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
