Genesis 6:19-22

Lesson # Genesis 6:19-22
Study Material - Genesis 6:19-22

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Gen. 6:19-22

19 And of every living thing of all flesh, you shall bring two of every kind into the ark, to keep them alive with you; they shall be male and female. 20 Of the birds after their kind, and of the animals after their kind, of every creeping thing of the ground after its kind, two of every kind shall come to you to keep them alive. 21 And as for you, take for yourself some of all food which is edible, and gather it to yourself; and it shall be for food for you and for them.' 22 Thus Noah did; according to all that God had commanded him, so he did.

After the construction instructions, came the passenger list. Here the list refers to two of every animal. In the next chapter this will be expanded to collecting seven of every clean animal as well as the two by two selection of all unclean animals. Noah knew what was a clean animal and what was not. This distinction was made way back in the beginning with Adam, though nothing is mentioned in the scriptures until now. We know this because only clean animals can be used for the sacrifices to God. This will be clarified when the Levitical sacrifices are spelled out in later on. God is consistent. He does not have one kind of sacrifice for one generation and another kind of sacrifice for the next generation. The way of salvation does not change either. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved, has been the only path to salvation since Adam and remains so to this day. Of course Adam and others did not have the name, Jesus Christ, but they did know that the Son of God would become man and be sacrificed in mans place for the price of sin. Remember the seed of the woman promise given to Adam, remember the sacrifices that Cain did which were not acceptable vs. those of Abel. Now we have the distinction of clean vs. unclean animals.

God leaves nothing to be uncertain, but everyone knew what was expected and what was not. Just as you know what God expects you to do daily, which is to remain in fellowship, within the power sphere of Gods control, to study and learn Bible doctrine, and to grow up spiritually. With that, Gods word in you will rule you and guide you in your life.

Every pair was to be taken on board in male and female pairs to be able to perpetuate the species. Each was selected after its own kind. No weird combinations were selected. Possibly in those days some weird mating was done with the angels and animals, just as the angels mated with the human women. But only pure human and Gods created animal species were selected to board the ark. Nothing of mans or angels inventions were selected for the ark. Mans work is excluded from Gods plan.

Noah was to gather sufficient for the trip and this was to be done just prior to the date it was needed.

Now all the instructions were set. Noah had 120 years to accomplish this task. Certainly he was the object of ridicule and jokes for many years, but Noah did as he was told. He did not hesitate. Heb. 11 explains further that Noah obeys even in the face of things never before heard of. He was building a huge ship. Rain had never occurred before on the earth. Where was all this water going to come from to flood the earth. What was a flood anyway. Noah held his faith for a long time. He held his poise in the face of public ridicule. Every swing of the hammer so to speak was a testimony of the failure of the vast majority and their condemnation. They could have built their own arks, but none did. They could have offered to help and gain passage on the ark, but none did. They could have believed in God, but none did. They could have taken God seriously and feared the consequences of their rejection of God, but God was not real to them, they did not fear their destruction.

Arrogance blinds one to the truth. Gods reminders are all around us in life. But the world is a busy place an it is easy to get caught up in the day to day activities of just surviving in life, living from pay check to pay check. Or getting caught up in your retirement or investment plans, and maintaining your level of comfort as you would like it. Nothing wrong with being comfortable certainly, but ignoring your daily responsibility to study doctrine is where most make their mistake in life.

Do not concentrate on the things of life only to lose them all. Things in life cannot help you in eternity, only doctrine in the soul can be of use to you. Noah held on for over a hundred years and was probably the focus of the most intensive gossip and ridicule ever, but he did not flinch. Noah did ... so he did. This is repeated to emphasize Noah's resolve. You too need resolve in your life. Bible doctrine gives you confidence, courage, and discernment in life. Regardless of what the world throws at you, you will be safe because you have your own ark constructed in your soul. Sealed on the inside and outside, impenetrable while in fellowship and advancing in your spiritual life.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
