Genesis 7:1-4

Lesson # Genesis 7:1-4
Study Material - Genesis 7:1-4

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Gen. 7:1-4

1 Then the LORD said to Noah, 'Enter the ark, you and all your household; for you alone I have seen to be righteous before Me in this time. 2 You shall take with you of every clean animal by sevens, a male and his female; and of the animals that are not clean two, a male and his female; 3 also of the birds of the sky, by sevens, male and female, to keep offspring alive on the face of all the earth. 4 For after seven more days, I will send rain on the earth forty days and forty nights; and I will blot out from the face of the land every living thing that I have made.'

The call goes out for boarding the ark. God gave the call. The ark was complete, but Noah did not move in immediately. He waited for Gods command. The 120 years was nearly completed and all the human race as well as the Nephilim (the angelic, human half breeds), had rejected God. They rejected the warnings. They refused to build their own arks just to hedge their bets against the inevitable flood. They were blind to the truth by their own arrogance.

The soul is like a sponge. It soaks up information. And in this life the soul houses your human life. You are not just a pair of legs walking around on the earth. You are a living soul riding in a body of flesh. You feed your body and exercise daily to keep it healthy. Your soul needs food as well as exercise to keep it healthy. The healthy food for the soul is Bible doctrine. Doctrine gives it muscle and strength, and keeps it free from scar tissue on its exterior. When doctrine is absent in the soul, the soul will scar over and harden, thus the term hardened heart as ascribed to various people in the Bible. A hardened heart loses its capability of taking in truth. A scared over soul blinds itself.

The people living prior to the flood had calloused over souls. They had 120 years to make up their mind. Now the date is T minus 7 days. Nothing was hidden. Everything was made clear. Noah was now given his last instructions. He did not have to go out and find the animals, they all came to him by two's and by seven's. The pairs of two's represent the unclean portion of this world, which is the vast majority of everything. The sets of sevens represent the clean animals to propagate in the three pairs more of the same and the seventh for a sacrifice to God.

All things come from God. All life, and all provisions for life. The sacrifices are the means of reminder and the only method of teaching the grace of God and the work of Christ on the Cross. For thousands of years this method of teaching was in effect until it was abrogated by Christ on the Cross.

Noah was to take his family with him. Noah was given credit for his strong faith and his family was blessed by their association with him. I believe that all the family members were saved anyway, but anyone who is associated with a mature believer benefits by that association. A mature believer receives blessing and those around him receive some degree of blessing merely because of the association. This is not to say that each one of us are not held responsible for our own decisions. If we fail in life, discipline will fall on us. An example is a nation that has many mature believers in it. The nation is prosperous, there are lots of jobs and good wages. Even unbelievers benefit by their living inside that blessed nation. They will still have their own judgment, but for a time they will be blessed by association. Noah's family was blessed certainly by their association with him. God wouldn't be so cruel as to let only 6 or 7 people get on board and tell Noah that 1 or 2 could not go. If someone close was not going to board the ark, they would probably die graciously prior to the flood, such as Methuselah.

Now some details of the flood are revealed. For 40 days and nights it will rain. The rain is not a freak action of nature, but is sent by God. Jesus Christ controls history and the weather. Nothing happens that does not have His permission to happen, whether direct permission or indirect permission. Gods decision is made from His sovereignty. His decision is final and certain. People who have no regard, no fear, no respect for God or His plan, find out too late. Imagine the panic when the first drops of water, of all things, fell from the sky. It had never rained before on the earth. This was a new event.

Everything was going to be wiped out. Everything that God had made. God made all things. From the plant life to all the living creatures, people, Nephilim and all. God breathed life into the souls of everyone. Creatures did not originate themselves. Creatures did not have anything to do with their own formation. The potter, God, made the pots of clay, people. Yet people seemed to get their own priorities out of order and placed themselves before God. Totally ignoring God as the source of life and everything else. The world had slipped into corruption and degeneracy and this was their true boast even though none admitted their failures.

So now the time is down to 7 days and still no takers, yet even the animals obeyed God and went to Noah in their allotted numbers. Noah was invited to board the ark and reside in a place of safety, in the midst of judgment. We are all in Gods arms when we have doctrine in or souls and are advancing to maturity. The world will continue to swirl around us and we will get daily reminders of Gods plan for each of our lives. So long as we do not get impatient with the constant and repetitious reminders, so long as we continue to heed Gods Word and grow up spiritually, we will come out of our individual floods in great shape. And any enemies we have surrounding us will simply vanish into nothing.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
