Genesis 7:5-10

Lesson # Genesis 7:5-10
Study Material - Genesis 7:5-10

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Gen. 7:5-10

5 And Noah did according to all that the LORD had commanded him. 6 Now Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of water came upon the earth. 7 Then Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons' wives with him entered the ark because of the water of the flood. 8 Of clean animals and animals that are not clean and birds and everything that creeps on the ground, 9 there went into the ark to Noah by twos, male and female, 10 And it came about after the seven days, that the water of the flood came upon the earth.

The show and the procession begins. The world is about to come to an end and the people have been evangelized for 120 years, yet they rejected God and viewed this circus as just that. Some kind of entertainment. Something for them to gossip and talk about. Now there were seven days remaining and one can only imagine the word spreading wildly about the animals suddenly showing up. That Noah and his family were now boarding and bedding down these animals. Placing each in its proper room.

Noah did as he was told. Noah lived by faith. He believed the Word of God. He ignored the ridicule of the people. He ignored the propaganda, the peer pressure of many who certainly tried to convince him that he was pursuing a crazy venture. To build a huge barge such as this, and on dry land to boot. How will he ever get it to the water? And so the ridicule would continue.

Noah was 600 years old. When he was born, Seth the second generation from Adam had just died. But Noah knew Enosh and the next few generations. He had just missed Enoch, but Enoch was the link between Adam and Methuselah. Enoch giving a boost in faith with his most certain dramatic removal from this earth by God. Remember that Enoch did not die physically, but was taken up by God. The Bible does not say how, but Elijah's departure is described and I think that Enoch's departure was just as dramatic if not more so.

Noah had his influence from Methuselah and doctrine and was the man for the construction of the ark. The next link in the time table will be Shem. See the 'Generations' chart on the Index page under images. Shem will span the time from Noah to Jacob. The next support will come from Joseph's bones which will carry the Israelites through 400 years of slavery and then the tabernacle and the Law of Moses will be the final symbols of faith until the birth of Christ and the completed scriptures which we now have.

Noah was faithful for 600 years and especially in these last 120 years, where he had to act on his faith. He had to hear the commands and follow them by building the ark. We have this same test everyday of our lives. To ignore God and go on about our business because we have more important things to do, or to make time for God and study His Word and invest in something that will last us into eternity. Not only that but will carry us through this life and carry us in blessing rather than cursing.

Noah went on board with one wife. His sons went on board with their single wives respectively. The animals went on board in matched pairs, male and female, except for the seventh male animal which would be used for sacrifices. The world had rejected Gods design. There was lust unlimited in the world. The volition of man had broken down, in that the decisions were not in accordance with Gods will, but in accordance with the sin natures will. Marriage had broken down, in the free activities of male and female not only with each other but with same sex activities, animal sex activities, angelic interaction and so forth. All manner of evil had filled the entire earth. There was no such thing as good family life. Children were not raised in a good 'Christian' way. Kids were not taught right from wrong. If the parents don't follow good morals, they cannot teach their children anything different. Children have volition and the ability to reason, and eventually have the ability to decide for themselves, so they are held responsible for their decisions. No one can blame others for their own failures. We, each of us, think, decide and then act. We are held accountable for our own thoughts and actions.

The animals came to Noah and Noah boarded them in proper order. In matched pairs and certainly in compatibility with the neighboring animals that shared the same space. These animals, some domestic and some wild, had more sense than the people that populated the world. Animals know the seasons and when things are about to change. We don't even know when the weather is going to change let alone when things are going to change in our lives. But even the animals put mankind to shame and they are supposedly on a lower level in creation. One often wonders on what level some people are on!!

This brings us to T minus one day. The ark is complete, the provisions are on board, the passengers are in their seats, seat belts buckled, tray tables up. Now we wait. God does not make us wait unnecessarily. When we are ready, things happen, and they happen in quick order. The unrighteous are condemned and the righteous are vindicated.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
