Genesis 7:11-12

Lesson # Genesis 7:11-12
Study Material - Genesis 7:11-12

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Gen. 7:11-12

11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on the same day all the fountains of the great deep burst open, and the floodgates of the sky were opened. 12 And the rain fell upon the earth for forty days and forty nights.

The exact time of the flood is set. By calculation of the ages of the men listed in the Bible, this is the 1656th year since the beginning of Adam's life began. Noah is 600 years old and 2/3rd's of the way through his life. The 17th day of the second month which puts this in the spring time or about our April - May time. See the calendar chart on the index page.

When Noah had completed the loading of the ark, had boarded all the animals, had boarded his family, had boarded himself and closed the door. God waits until his chosen are safe. He had moved Lot out of Sodom before leveling that city and now Noah was safely on board the ark.

Then the flood gates broke open and the bulk of the water came up from underground. The sky grew dark with clouds and the rain came down heavy. And it poured down for 40 days and nights.

Water is rising from below and pouring down from above. When anyone rejects God, there is no place of safety, no place of refuge, no one to rescue. Only doom becomes the final page of ones life.

People were watching the circus and when the door of the ark closed, they saw the clouds rise and grow dark. The rain came down and everyone would have run for shelter, under trees, to buildings, under anything that would provide shelter. Then the water would begin to saturate the ground, the water level would rise. Personally I think that the continents began to split and if there was any volcanic activity, then the heavy rains would have kept the debris in the air to a minimum. Otherwise what was the need of the rain? Rain alone could not have buried the earth in water in just 40 days. The water rising from below was sufficient for that, so why the need for the rain? I think and this is only my personal opinion, that the rain served a purpose of keeping the atmosphere clean from all the volcanic ash that would have occurred from major eruptions used to split the continents apart. Then the rest of the year saw the deep water pushing the continents to their present locations, or at least their present locations minus the movements of the last 4000 years or so. The reasons I believe this is because God does not do things arbitrarily. The rain had a purpose and it was not to flood the earth. The water released from the deep underground reserves did the flooding. Also there is proof of continental drift. You can search this key word and find some really neat animation's of the movement of the continents, which of course everyone thinks took place over millions of years rather than in the space of one year as I believe. But then the world doesn't believe in the creation and Adam and Eve either, and embraces evolution. thus rejecting God as the creator. Interesting that there are seven continents and seven seas now! Seven is a number that seems to keep popping up.

Next Adam was placed in the land of Havilah and the Garden of Eden was in the middle of it somewhere and was guarded by Angels with flaming swords. All this went away in the flood. The land of Havilah was one piece of land. There was no government, no isolated place for people to go for safety to get away from persecution and such things.

We have discovered the bones of dinosaurs and a few old skeletons of people dating back a couple of thousand years. Some dating of bones puts them back several thousands of years, but these dates are arbitrary. Carbon dating over 100 years carries an error factor which sky rockets exponentially, making dating very uncertain and so most scientists use it as estimates. They also have error correction factors which are arbitrary too. Interesting that we haven't discovered the bones of the very early generations. I think they are buried in the deep trenches of the ocean, if not buried under continents and totally unreachable. Imagine digging up the bones of a part angel, part man skeleton. The alien crowd would not shut up then. So much for this topic. You are of course free to believe whatever you want. Whether the continents moved or not should make no difference in your spiritual life.

The important lesson here is that God judges sooner or later. Those who ignore Him, those who are too busy with their lives, those who outright reject God and embrace some world philosophy, these people will come to their end sooner or later. And their end will not be pretty. Ignoring God is a path only fools follow.

Proof of God is all around and most often simple common sense is all that is necessary to recognize it. The world is filled with dangers and traps. The only relief and refuge from them is Gods Word in the soul. Study daily, even for just a few minutes, and ponder what you learn. Store it away for future reflection and add to it what you learn on the next day and so forth. Remain in fellowship for that is the only means of learning Bible doctrine. Review the image charts on the index page regarding fellowship and the soul of the believer vs the unbeliever to get some frame of reference to how this all works. Remember that fellowship is not an emotional event.

Noah is now on the ark and in a place of safety. You should be in your ark, in fellowship, and therefore in a place of safety. Remain there all of your life, because the life you live here on this earth is in the middle of a flood of worldly attacks in various subtle ways. Study, learn, and grow up spiritually. Stay in the Word and God will guide your ark through life.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
