Genesis 7:13-16

Lesson # Genesis 7:13-16
Study Material - Genesis 7:13-16

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Gen. 7:13-16

13 On the very same day Noah and Shem and Ham and Japheth, the sons of Noah, and Noah's wife and the three wives of his sons with them, entered the ark, 14 they and every beast after its kind, and all the cattle after their kind, and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth after its kind, and every bird after its kind, all sorts of birds. 15 So they went into the ark to Noah, by twos of all flesh in which was the breath of life. 16 And those that entered, male and female of all flesh, entered as God had commanded him; and the LORD closed it behind him.

During that last week Noah had animals coming to him. His sons no doubt were herding them in and settling them down in their assigned rooms. The wives were probably preparing the places for the eight people, arranging the food supplies, as the sons were loading the feed supplies for the animals. They would have been certainly busy that last week.

People outside perhaps on a nearby hill watching the activities, and all the while there is but one door and one window in the ark. One door by which any and all may enter into the ark, Jesus Christ. And one window by which one may commune with God. We cannot get into the ark by climbing up the other side, or from the front or the back. There is only one entrance, the main door.

In salvation, there is only one way to become saved, and that is by faith in Christ. Believe in Jesus Christ, period. And you are saved. God provided for all the materials for the ark, and Noah by faith, constructed it in accordance with Gods instructions. Faith came first, then the application of faith came second. Noah believed first, then he listened and then he did as he was told.

His family was saved as well for the too entered into the ark. They entered of their own volition and were not coerced into going into the ark. Noah and his sons entered. Noah, the principle of faith, his sons, the principle of obedience to authority, and the wives, the principle of obedience to the application of the Word of God to the duties of preparation. All members represent the total compliance with Gods plan, with Gods provision.

God provided for everything and the door was to remain open for the time designated by God. In this case 120 years. But this time is exact for each of our lives. We just do not know when it will cease in this world. Today while I was driving home from an errand I was running, the traffic suddenly came to a stop on a very busy highway. Up ahead I could see the Life Flight Helicopters, several ambulances and an assortment of emergency vehicles working out the details of a bad accident. After a while traffic began to move again, and I saw the Easter flowers on the side of the road that came out of the two cars in the accident. Some one was probably going home from their Easter outing and suddenly their world came to a sudden end or certainly a major change. We too have our unknowns in life. Getting our estate in order seems to be the priority, but getting your soul in order is an even greater priority.

Noah was a testimony with every swing of the hammer for 120 years. He lived and applied doctrine to his life. We too owe a debt to God with our lives in that we should live by doctrine and not just read it. No, you don't go knocking on doors, but you certainly live an honest life, you express the Biblical view if the subject comes up in conversation. You participate with others if possible in a weekly Bible study, and most certainly with your family. Instead of watching those 'sit coms' on the TV, read and study a little with your family. You do not have to spend hours every night. Mom can bring out the cookies and juice, Dad can read, and the kids can listen. You share what you know with others in one way or another. In so doing you begin to stir up those memory cells in your head and you begin to learn, really learn, those things you thought you already knew, but didn't. So in learning, you have an ability to teach, and in teaching you really begin to learn and grow. The repetition can get boring, but Noah swung the hammer for 120 years. That is a lot of repetition.

God closed the door. Sooner or later God cuts the rope and the way of salvation is closed. If you have not believed in Christ, you need to really consider the repercussions of that rejection, eternal condemnation. Your life could end tonight and you would miss out on a wonderful eternity. Likewise, if you doddle in your daily Bible study and do not advance to maturity, God may jerk the rug out from beneath your life too. So fear of losing those tremendous blessings and rewards in eternity should motivate you to study.

God preserved all that he had made. Each after its own kind boarded the ark. Then finally Noah and his family. Nothing new was taken on board, nothing of mans invention, only what God created and preserved. Then the door closed and the rain and rising water from the deep came immediately. God does not waste time once judgment is initiated. God is patient and allows a great deal of time for man to demonstrate his accept or reject attitude. No one has an excuse. Do not get lost in the endless repetition of daily life. It is easy to get hypnotized into fading from doctrine and your spiritual life, but your final moment of life is certain. Technology will not change anything for you with respect you your designated number of heartbeats God has allotted you. When God decides your life is at its end, nothing can change it. So forewarned to all. Life doesn't have to be boring and constantly serious. With doctrine in the soul, life is very much a pleasant and happy experience. Without doctrine, happiness will elude you, and you will only fool yourself regarding happiness.

Luke 13:25, once the host closes the door, then all late comers are forever excluded from entering.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
