Habakkuk 2:2-3

Lesson # Habakkuk 2:2-3
Study Material - Habakkuk 2:2-3

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Habakkuk 2:2-3

2 And the LORD [Yahovah] answered [anah] me, and said [amar] , Write [kathab] the vision [chazown] , and make it plain [ba'ar] upon tables [luwach] , that he may run [ruwts] that readeth [qara] it.
3 For the vision [chazown] is yet for an appointed time [mow`ed] , but at the end [qets] it shall speak [puwach] , and not lie [kazab] : though it tarry [mahahh] , wait [chakah] for it; because it will surely [bow] come [bow] , it will not tarry [achar] . KJV-Interlinear

2 Then the LORD answered me and said, 'Record the vision And inscribe it on tablets, That the one who reads it may run. 3 'For the vision is yet for the appointed time; It hastens toward the goal, and it will not fail. Though it tarries, wait for it; For it will certainly come, it will not delay. NASB

Prior to the completion of the Bible, God communicated to man in various ways. Man received dreams, visions, and even direct conversation. But, since the completion of the scriptures in 96 AD, when John finished writing the book of Revelation, then all of Gods communication to man is through His written word only. The dreams and visions and dialogues ceased.

So if someone says they are talking to God in a two way conversation, then you need to remind them to take their medication.

When a person is consistent in his daily study, then answers will always come to them, through the scriptures. Everything that a person needs in order to survive in this life, has been provided for in the scriptures.

Habakkuk waited, and God answered.

Habakkuk was instructed to write the vision down such that others would be able to read it. He was to write it in such a manner that people would 'run,' to read it, in order to know the message from God.

God gives us a history lesson. The events were to occur. They were to occur at an appointed time in history, which was not yet, in Habakkuk's time. But occur, they would. And with certainty.

We may always look out at the world and wonder when things will happen, or even change. We may look out at our own personal life and wonder if things will ever change, or when things, that we want, will happen to us. For the better of course.

And so one needs only a knowledge of history, and of Gods plan, and then all is made clear.

For example, there are three parallel histories occurring simultaneously in time. There is the angelic conflict. The conflict between God and Satan. Satan would like to have his own way. Satan challenges all that God does. And God holds up truth and says that without it, all would fall apart and dissolve into oblivion.

Satan of course disagrees. All he wants is his own way. And he believes that he can do what God does. He is wrong.

Second there is human history. From the time of Adam and Eve, God has laid out dispensations in which certain aspects of history have, and will occur. Satan has made the challenge, and human history is the demonstration of God wisdom and justification for judging Satan, and all who follow in his pattern of thinking. Thinking which is anti-God.

Third there is your own personal history. You live your life within an very short time frame. Your primary objective is not to advance in this life in accordance with the rules of the world, but to prepare yourself for eternity.

You may live a hundred years on this earth, but that pales when compared to the trillions of gazillions of years that you will live in eternity. Consequently your priority should be your spiritual preparation.

God gave you life, a body, certain gifts, or abilities, in order to live in this world. But these things are not the sum total of your life. They are merely the logistical devices given you, to allow you to make it through this life and be prepared for the next.

You are given a body, food, clothes, an education, a job, and so forth. These are not the focus of your life. They are intended to support your existence so you can grow up spiritually.

God speaks to us through the written word. We speak to God through prayer. Our conversation has to be conducted on the same wavelength, and we call that fellowship.

Habakkuk was told to write down the words, such that people would believe. Such that people would run, to read and learn more of what God has to say. Anyone who wants to learn about history, and life for that matter, should rush to learn whatever they can, with respect to Gods Word. Our rushing is manifested in our desire, and consistency in maintaining, a daily Bible study.

Jer. 23:21
21 'I did not send these prophets, But they ran. I did not speak to them, But they prophesied. NASB

Anyone who has a genuine desire to learn, will impatiently seek out and discover the wisdom which the Bible holds. History is written. Sometimes we read of it in the prophecies such as in our study of Revelation. Sometimes we understand history from our knowledge of past history. Sometimes we see history forming from contemporary events.

No matter how we view history, either on a global scale or from our personal consideration, we cannot understand it apart from an understanding of the scriptures. Bible doctrine in the soul gives us perspective and understanding. Without knowledge of doctrine, then the speculation, the complaints, the excuses, the theories, the philosophies, all come out of the woodwork.

Finally in our passage, history will come, and history will come in accordance with Gods divine decrees. No man, no power, can change that which is meant to be. We cannot alter it, we cannot prevent it. As God states here, sometimes history will tarry. Man might wake up and get with a Bible study program and that will have an impact on history, but sooner or later, man will slip away from God and the inevitable will occur.

Is this a glitch in Gods plan? No. Even all the tarrying of history is included and documented in the decrees of eternity past.

You are not a slave to history unless you ignore your spiritual life. Spiritual growth sets you free and gives you remarkable independence. Spiritual deficiencies get you slavery and doom.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
