Habakkuk 2:12-14

Lesson # Habakkuk 2:12-14
Study Material - Habakkuk 2:12-14

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Habakkuk 2:12-14

12 Woe [howy] to him that buildeth [banah] a town [iyr] with blood [dam] , and stablisheth [kuwn] a city [qiryah] by iniquity [evel] !
13 Behold, is it not of the LORD [Yahovah] of hosts [tsaba] that the people [am] shall labour [yaga] in the very [day] fire [esh] , and the people [laom] shall weary [ya`aph] themselves for very [day] vanity [riyq] ?
14 For the earth [erets] shall be filled [male] with the knowledge [yada] of the glory [kabowd] of the LORD [Yahovah] , as the waters [mayim] cover [kacah] the sea [yam] . KJV-Interlinear

12 'Woe to him who builds a city with bloodshed And founds a town with violence! 13 'Is it not indeed from the LORD of hosts That peoples toil for fire, And nations grow weary for nothing? 14 'For the earth will be filled With the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, As the waters cover the sea. NASB

Remember our airplane from the other day. Negative people jump out of the plane into a thick fog. They free fall toward the ground and oblivion, but they reject the idea that they are really falling to their own doom.

Now here is a picture of their life. They build cities and towns to themselves. They pursue and build up plans, great and small, for their own lives. They walk and run as they continue their descent toward the rocks below.

Their chosen pattern of life is iniquity, which is sin, and all sin leads to violence sooner or later, whether overt violence against others or simply mental hate against others, or against life in general.

Negative people toil and work, and toil and work their little fingers to the bone and they get nowhere. Ever read of a criminal who plots and plans the perfect crime, and if they just used that same effort in a legitimate job, they would be further ahead than they will ever get in their crimes?

The same applies to people who reject God, who ignore God, who come up with their own definition of a spiritual life, or with their own definition of what being good, means.

Sin is a vat of fire, a fire pit. People by embracing it, voluntarily jump into that pit of fire, and they work, and they work, and they work, just to get nowhere. They just do not discover their error until their life is all over. When they finally descend out of the fog and finally see the ground rushing up at them as they fall, then the panic and the ultimate frustration engulfs them. Too late, as the end comes quickly.

The third woe is the perverted sin which results from the lustful drive for plunder of the first woe, and the exposed pride behind it all in the second woe.

Exclusion of God from ones life leads one only to continually far worse conditions. Trying to gain something which is never attainable, trying to create an environment or a life style which is a lie, and trying to live within it, yields nothing but failure, and the subsequent frustration that always accompanies it.

The Lord defines life for us all. And He teaches us that when we reject His counsel, and embrace our own, then failure follows.

Sin is a fire pit, and no matter how hard you work in it, you'll never put the fire out. Weariness of frustration eventually saps all your energy. Go to the beach with a small bucket, and try to scoop all the water out of the ocean. Jump into the middle of a forest fire and try to put it out with a squirt gun. You're not going to succeed. Yet people put all their effort in to their life to the exclusion of God, and they somehow have convinced themselves that their effort, their ideas, their beliefs are better than that which God teaches.

Placing just a fraction of that effort into trusting in God, will yield infinitely more success than all the effort placed in ones own worldly effort. Imagine what putting a lot of effort, into complying with Gods commands, will yield for you!

In the end, what will be the last truth standing in history? Mans effort, or Gods truth? And we know, or we should know, that Gods truth will be the last man standing when it is all said and done.

'the earth will be filled With the knowledge of the glory of the LORD.'

One day, all of mankind's invented schemes of philosophy, all of mankind's religions, all of mankind's beliefs which contradict or ignore God, all satanic patterns of thought, all these will cease to exist. And the only thing left will be Gods truth.

Isa. 11:9
9 They will not hurt or destroy in all My holy mountain, For the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD As the waters cover the sea. NASB

Num. 14:21
21 but indeed, as I live, all the earth will be filled with the glory of the LORD. NASB

Jer. 49:7
7 Concerning Edom. Thus says the LORD of hosts, 'Is there no longer any wisdom in Teman? Has good counsel been lost to the prudent? Has their wisdom decayed? NASB

Isa. 2:2
2 Now it will come about that In the last days, The mountain of the house of the LORD Will be established as the chief of the mountains, And will be raised above the hills; And all the nations will stream to it. NASB

Many other passages cover this concept of Gods final victory and defeat of all non-biblical beliefs, Isa. 2:2-4, Mic. 4:1-4, Isa. 13:19-22, Jer. 1:39, Isa. 52:7, Nah. 1:15, Obad. 1-4, Amos 9:13, Joel 3:18.

Jer. 51:58
58 Thus says the LORD of hosts, 'The broad wall of Babylon will be completely razed, And her high gates will be set on fire; So the peoples will toil for nothing, And the nations become exhausted only for fire.' NASB

Ignore Gods word in your life, and your life will amount to nothing.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
