Habakkuk 3:13

Lesson # Habakkuk 3:13
Study Material - Habakkuk 3:13

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Habakkuk 3:13

13 Thou wentest forth [yatsa] for the salvation [yesha] of thy people [am] , even for salvation [yesha] with thine anointed [mashiyach] ; thou woundedst [machats] the head [ro'sh] out of the house [bayith] of the wicked [rasha] , by discovering [arah] the foundation [yacowd] unto the neck [tsavva'r] . Selah [celah] . KJV-Interlinear

13 Thou didst go forth for the salvation of Thy people, For the salvation of Thine anointed. Thou didst strike the head of the house of the evil To lay him open from thigh to neck. NASB

What is Gods objective for all of this death and destruction? The salvation of His people. Who are Gods people? All who believe in the promised savior, the Son of God, Jesus Christ.

God does not get angry, nor does He display anger toward anything or anyone. But anger is a phrase of accommodation to describe Gods policy of truth, righteousness, and justice and grace, and the consistent application of it to all peoples throughout history.

Pursue evil and you'll reap the wages of evil. Pursue divine good, and you'll reap the wages of good. Note that this is Gods good, not human good. Human good is a part of the strength of the sin nature and all of the sin nature in people is in fact evil. Evil is anything which is set apart from God, and from truth.

God set into motion a plan designed to secure salvation for all who believe in Him (Jesus Christ). That plan also called for the securing of a human lineage up to the birth of Christ, from Adam to Joseph and Mary.

Though people, in the chosen people of God, would get off track and would come under divine discipline, their enemies, would not get off with their awesome atrocities. The same salvation and spiritual life is available to all peoples, not to just a select few.

But when those who would oppose God vehemently and perpetually, then God will allow them just so much time, and then cut them off at the neck and feet. The head is severed, the foundation on which they base their life will be severed. Their total house in which they live will collapse under them.

And, God goes one step further. If you have ever seen of an animal being butchered, you know that it is killed first, then gutted, then it is cut in half lengthwise from head to tail (thigh to neck). Then the two halves are usually cut into half again, or quartered.

A beef or pig is hung up for further processing, but the enemy of God is hung out to rot after being thoroughly sliced and diced. An enemy who has lost his head and feet, can not function in the normal sense. And again when he is cut in half, his abilities (which are now zero anyway) are even further diminished.

When God exercises His power and authority against an evil opponent, there is no question as to the outcome. We have seen the destruction and death of the earthquake and tsunamis over in Indonesia. Even with lots of aid pouring in, it will be a long time before that region gets back to normal. Most probably many of the dead will never be identified. People will simply be missing forever.

When the Bible describes the Day of the Lord, it generally is describing the end of the Tribulation. In those days, during that entire seven year period, many disasters will occur. The biggest difference between now and that future time, is that now, there are many resources for aid to help the afflicted. But in the Tribulation, when the disasters occur, those people will go unaided. People will be cut off from the world. Bad water, disease, destroyed power services, no communications, busted roads, lack of food, all this and more problems will serve to make life miserable to the extreme, in those future days.

Likewise, when evil people are distracted with their own misery, then they are not pursuing their wickedness against Gods chosen. Therefore, often times disaster can be a form of protection for advancing believers.

We'll see a lot of that when we get back into that study.

The motive of Gods judgment is clear. His anger is not vented toward nature or against everybody in general. His purpose is to crush wickedness and deliver, or perpetuate the existence of His own.

Selah. The band plays on. Grace marches on. Gods plan continues unhindered. Ponder it all, and learn.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
