Isaiah 1:30

http://www.dailybiblestudy.org

30 For ye shall be as an oak ['elah] whose leaf [`aleh] fadeth, [nabel] and as a garden [gannah] that hath no water. [mayim] KJV-Interlinear

30 For you will be like an oak whose leaf fades away, Or as a garden that has no water.  NASB

The oaks and the gardens, from the previous verse, that spiritually dysfunctional people strongly desired, in order that they might have the strength and security and prosperity and peace and power of their dreams, will never be.

'Shall be,' marks the certainty of the futility of life without God and doctrine.

There are no if, ands, or buts. There are no exceptions. There are no possibilities. There is never a certainty of success in this life, for this life at its very best, is temporary only.

What people portray as success, is not. The oaks, the gardens, the details of this life that people place so much of their reliance on for their goals and fulfillments and happiness's, are not real.

This world is a shadow. We have studied shadows before.

Heaven is the reality. There is a huge difference between the shadow and the real object that causes the shadow.

Shadows have no texture, no color, no aroma, no depth. Shadows indicate only that there is something real elsewhere, but the shadow is not the actual thing.

And in this life, all we have are shadows, indicating symbolically, that there is something better, far better, in heaven, but we will never know of it, until we actually get there. And even then, if you are not prepared spiritually, than you will miss out on much of what heaven has to offer.

Unbelievers miss out entirely. Negative believers, miss out on the vast reward package that they could have had.

And so it is, the waters of life, come only from God. God gives them to each one of us through doctrine. When we study, we drink, when we are in fellowship, we benefit. When we apply what we learn to our daily life, we grow.

But when the water is withheld, the tree and all of its glory and beauty and strength, and all that it represents, dies away. When the water is withheld, the garden deteriorates, dries out, withers, and dies. It produces nothing.

And so it is in life. Withhold the water of life (Bible doctrine) from your life, and you will have nothing.

A productive garden, and beautiful and strong tree, must drink every day.

Any living thing must feed or be fed, every day, lest it fade, lose its strength, gets sick, and weak and eventually dies. For that is the certain result for your life if you do not take God seriously, if you do not take Christ seriously, if you do not take doctrine seriously, if you do not take your spiritual life and daily study seriously.

If you pretend or try to create or define your own spiritual life, you will fail.

And as we recently studied in another passage, you will be left with embarrassment and nothing more.

You were placed in this world so that you could get prepared for the next and eternal and complete life, full of blessing. You were not placed in this world to collect shadows.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
