Isaiah 8:4

http://www.dailybiblestudy.org

4 For before the child [na`ar] shall have knowledge [yada`] to cry, [qara'] My father, ['ab] and my mother, ['em] the riches [chayil] of Damascus [Dammeseq] and the spoil [shalal] of Samaria [Shomarown] shall be taken away [nasa'] before [paniym] the king [melek] of Assyria. ['Ashshuwr] KJV-Interlinear

4 for before the boy knows how to cry out' My father' or' My mother,' the wealth of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria will be carried away before the king of Assyria." NASB

So from the time of this prophecy, Isaiah's wife would have to conceive and then nine months later give birth, and then the child would have to grow up, and then before he spoke his first words, perhaps by the age of two, the King of Assyria would invade both Samaria and Syria. That effectively ends their threat against Judah, which is the whole point of this prophecy and promise.

And in accordance with the name of the child, that invasion would be swift and thorough, and the plunder likewise great and thorough.

Both nations that had designs of their own for Gods nation, Judah, would in fact see their own demise. And that is a good lesson for us all.

There are a lot of people out there that would just as soon destroy you, as look at you.

Being of an evil nature, all people who reject God, are by default evil.

All people who reject or ignore God, which is just another form of rejection, are in fact evil and prefer their own plans as opposed to the plans of God.

The plan of evil does not include anything good, which is to say, you are excluded from the plans of a spiritually negative world.

Judah and its king and its people looked not to God, but to Assyria. Their plans were likewise thwarted.

So, unless you look to God, unless you comply with Gods wishes, unless you bend your knees and stiff stubborn neck, in humility to Gods will, then you and your life will fail miserably.

And by your life, we include your eternal life, not just these few decades that you will live in this world.

You may very well grow up to become a billionaire, but that is irrelevant to the overall outcome of your life. One day you will die and whatever is on your balance sheet will disappear behind you, of which you will never see again. And, someone else will reap the earthly rewards of your earthly efforts. But too, they will die and that process will repeat itself, until one day all of those earthly inheritances are eventually squandered and lost to history.

Once you move on to the afterlife, the only thing that you will take with you is your spiritual production, and needless to say, if you take nothing, then you will have nothing. And given that your eternal life will last a very long time, like forever, then your possession loss will be no less than an infinite loss. So, put your calculator on that concept, and figure if it is really worth ignoring all of this God stuff.

Syria and Samaria rejected God and they lost. If you reject God, then you will lose. So how can you possibly win?

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
