Isa. 64:3-4

3 When thou didst [`asah] terrible things [yare'] which we looked [qavah] not for, thou camest down [yarad], the mountains [har] flowed down [zalal] at thy presence [paniym].

4 For since the beginning of the world [`owlam] men have not heard [shama`], nor perceived by the ear ['azan], neither hath the eye [`ayin] seen [ra'ah], O God ['elohiym], beside [zuwlah] thee, what he hath prepared [`asah] for him that waiteth [chakah] for him. KJV-Interlinear

3 When Thou didst awesome things which we did not expect, Thou didst come down, the mountains quaked at Thy presence. 4 For from of old they have not heard nor perceived by ear, Neither has the eye seen a God besides Thee, Who acts in behalf of the one who waits for Him. NASB

Doing awesome things not expected, and making the mountains quake, are references to the Exodus generation. A generation that lived a long time ago.

They had been in slavery for four hundred years, so that last generation was born in slavery and they grew up in slavery. They did not know any other life.

They knew of the promises of God for a deliverer, a Messiah to come and set them free. They knew that their slavery was only going to last but a few more years, as per the prophecy to Abraham which set the timeline for their slavery, but they did not expect the things that were going to occur.

After all one of their own, a Hebrew, was the Prince of Egypt, but he was sent into exile and no one heard from him, Moses, for another forty years.

Then Moses returned and ten plagues suddenly struck Egypt. Then the exodus and the trap by the sea. Then the sea opened up for their escape, and Egypt was destroyed as a world power. The Israelites wandered through the desert until they came to Mt. Sinai. God descended that mountain and struck great terror in all of the people.

We are studying the end days of the Tribulation. We are studying the remnant which will be delivered in those last few horrible days. A group of people who will begin the Tribulation, just under seven years earlier, as unbelievers. A group of people who are probably between the ages of twenty and fifty. Of course, I am speculating about these ages, and am only using them to help paint a possible picture of the folks who will actually survive the Tribulation to its last few days.

They will resist, at first, the implications of the prophecies of long ago, that they might just apply to their own generation.

Even in our current day, you will find lots of folks out there in the world who want to see our day as the last days. They want to see the miracles of old. They want God to step down out of heaven and show His powers. But, their wishes are simply emotional and wishful thinking.

This last generation of the Tribulation will not be like that. As we have seen, they have applied themselves to learning doctrine and they have advanced in their spiritual lives, not relying on wishes, but on faith.

They know of the miracles of old, but they do not expect them. They have experienced many unfair things in their life, but they do not blame God. They have heard all of the promises of government, all of the rhetoric of celebrities, all of the boastings of religion, and only one thing rests in their minds.

There has never been, any god, who has had such a phenomenal history as the God, Jesus Christ. No eye has seen, nor ear has heard, of any god like the one true God.

Not Hinduism, not Buddhism, not Islam, and certainly not any of the cults, or mystical gods, can match the history portrayed in the Bible.

God has performed amazing feats, long before humanity ever came into existence. God has performed amazing feats during man s history. And, all of His actions were designed to make better lives for those who wait on Him. That means you and me.

We are man. We are dust of the earth. We are nothing spectacular in this universe, and yet God has brought us all to the point of inheriting the entire universe, even though we deserve nothing.

Why then would a people so blessed, reject the very person who is offering everything to them?

What other deity, or philosophy, or religion has done so much and offered so much to its followers?

The folks who are hunkered down in the final days of the Tribulation, when the world is literally coming apart, know that they will be delivered one way or another. They know of the prophecies, but they rely on their faith, and not on magic or wishes.

God has many methods to work His own will. What you might expect, or want for your own life, probably will not be what you will receive. What you receive will probably not be what you expect. Nevertheless, God is faithful to those who are faithful to Him.

God, the most powerful and knowing person in existence, has put together a plan, not for Himself, for He does not need any of us in order to have a life of His own. But, He has done everything in behalf of us.

That alone should make you feel just a little bit special.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
