Isa. 66:1

1 Thus saith ['amar] the LORD [Yahovah], The heaven [shamayim] is my throne [kicce'], and the earth ['erets] is my footstool [regel] [hadom]: where is the house [bayith] that ye build [banah] unto me? and where is the place [maqowm] of my rest [manuwchah]? KJV-Interlinear

1 Thus says the LORD, Heaven is My throne, and the earth is My footstool. Where then is a house you could build for Me? And where is a place that I may rest? NASB

Here is the slap in the face of the Israelite people in particular, and at humanity in general.

The people of Judah placed great importance on their Temple. They placed great importance on their daily life style. They placed great importance on their way of life. They placed great importance on themselves. They placed great importance on their personal beliefs.

What is the state of a human being? Nothing. We are less than nothing. Adam was named after the common dust from which his body was formed. The Hebrew word for common worthless dust is adam.

And yet people value themselves above most everything in life. People are opinionated. But then, people relate their opinions against the opinions of other people. Gods opinions are generally ignored, having little value for consideration.

The reality? God is the sovereign. God is the creator. God is the power who holds this universe together and controls every aspect of history.

Man, on the other hand, tries to invent an identity for a god, that is convenient to mans desires and standards. In effect elevating mans own value and ability in his own eyes, as though mans has all of the say in his own destiny.

And, we have already seen, from Gods foreknowledge, that the destiny of humanity is not to rule the stars, but to become piles of dead bodies for hundreds of miles in the Middle East, and across the planet.

Man cannot cure the common cold. Man cannot add one minute to his own life. Man cannot control the weather let alone forecast it accurately.

God, on the other hand, can make the night cease to exist. God can extend mans life font to whatever time frame He wants. God can cause the weather to become perfect all of the time. God can make the ferocity of wild animals to disappear. God can do anything. Man can t make anything last much longer than its warranty period.

God has dwelt in the vastness of heaven for all of eternity. What is planet earth when compared with the universe and beyond? There is nothing on this planet that can contain the person of God.

Our little planet is nothing more than a footstool for God, if even that. Man is nothing more than a spec of dust. So why would man think so highly of himself?

The Jews thought too highly of themselves and that ended up in their rejection of the one and only Savior. People in general, which includes you, think to highly of themselves, and that ends up in the disregard of, or indifference toward Bible doctrine and ones spiritual life.

After all, we have too many things to do in life, that are far more important than reading a silly old Bible everyday! Things like, well, just things!

And besides, who is going to believe that a population of six, or ten, or twenty, or even a hundred billion people are just going to kill themselves all off one day? We have seen lots of historical disasters in history, and though millions have died in some of them, we are still here, aren t we?

Man has his problems certainly, but human ingenuity will figure a way out of them all sooner or later. Right?

And so goes the attitude of the indifferent. They will always have an excuse, or an explanation. Mans opinions are far more important than those of God. And this is the subject of chapter 66, mans opinions verses Gods abilities.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
