You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Job 9:27-28

27 If I say ['amar], I will forget [shakach] my complaint [siyach], I will leave off [`azab] my heaviness [paniym], and comfort [balag] myself:

28 I am afraid [yagor] of all my sorrows [`atstsebeth], I know [yada`] that thou wilt not hold me innocent [naqah]. KJV-Interlinear

27 'Though I say, 'I will forget my complaint, I will leave off my sad countenance and be cheerful,' 28 I am afraid of all my pains, I know that Thou wilt not acquit me. NASB

As for all of those who believe in self-healing, here is Jobs comment regarding that. It doesn't work. The 'I'm ok, you're ok,' approach to life amounts to nothing more than fooling your self. It is an emotional fix, and all emotional things are temporary at best.

All of the self, feeling good methods, the yoga, the humming, the chanting and such things do not and can not cure any of mans spiritual ills. Especially his sin nature. The popularity of Hinduism and Buddhism, which have both existed prior to the time of Christ and still do even today, are the foundation beliefs in those types of spiritual approaches to life.

How did Job come down with this disease in the first place? Did he forget to wash his hands? Did he drink some dirty water, or eat some bad food? No. This disease came to him from Satan.

How will this disease leave Job? Will he take some medicine? Will he take some antibiotics? Will he exercise his way out of this disease? No. God will remove it just as fast as it came onto Job. Blink!

Now we are comparing the spiritual life with the carnal life. Naturally, when you are sick, you need to do the right thing. Today, we have modern medicines, and medical techniques for dealing with all sorts of physical ailments. You do not, repeat, do not sit at home and refuse medical treatment because you think God will cure you. Don't be stupid. He won't.

With respect to your spiritual life, you cannot achieve it by means of something you yourself do. You cannot cure your spiritual deadness by humming, or stretching, or exercising. There is only one way of salvation, and that is through faith in Christ. Mans works have no place in the spiritual life.

This is why Job says, 'You will not acquit me.'

If Job could simply forget his pain, look away from it, so to speak, heal himself or will himself better, pretend that he is better, then would that please or satisfy God? No. The betterness of ones life, spiritually speaking, is through faith, which comes from learning Bible doctrine on a daily basis.

The course you take for bettering yourself in this temporal life may be through diet, exercise, medication and so forth, but that will not help your spiritual life.

It won't hurt you to wake up each morning and decide that today you will be happy. But it will help your life infinitely more, when you open your Bible's each day, and learn a little doctrine. Temporal cures have their place, but they are temporary. Spiritual cures are forever.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
