Job 11:11-12

11 For he knoweth [yada`] vain [shav'] men [math]: he seeth [ra'ah] wickedness ['aven] also; will he not then consider [biyn] it?

12 For vain [nabab] man ['iysh] would be wise [labab], though man ['adam] be born [yalad] like a wild ass's [pere'] colt [`ayir]. KJV-Interlinear

11 'For He knows false men, And He sees iniquity without investigating. 12 'And an idiot will become intelligent When the foal of a wild donkey is born a man. NASB

God knows that man is false. The word here used for false also means vain. Vanity is an emptiness, a falsehood, a lie, or an iniquity.

God does not distinguish between humans that are good, and humans that are bad. Here Zophar teaches us that all of humanity is bad. Man is total depravity, and that covers a very broad range of human flaws and deficiencies including immorality, wickedness, corruption, evil, decadence, degeneracy and so forth.

God does not have to go hunting for mans crimes. He knows them all, to the last and smallest of infractions.

In this world, we have to discover the crime, and then begin the investigation in order to determine all of the who, what, when, where's and so forth. God knows all of the sins of humanity, and has known them since eternity past, long before we ever came into existence.

Now Zophar puts mans intelligence into perspective. When will man be born wise? When hell freezes over.

Well, he uses the wild donkey as his example. But here his words can be taken correctly in two ways.

First, man is born as the wild donkey is born. Man is born wild and without any inclination toward discipline. Man is born untamed with the desire to be a wandering and insubmissive person. If the rules and standards of God were never made available to influence mans behavior in society, then man would drive himself into total extinction.

This happened in Noah's day, and this will happen again in the Tribulation. Only God can save humanity from destroying himself.

The wild donkey is not the dumb, dull, stubborn and docile animal that we are familiar with, but in this case it is an animal bon out in the wild, with no halter, no lead rope, no standards whatsoever. It is wild and untamed.

The chance that man will be born other than what he is, is the same chance that a donkey will be born a man. That means never.

The chance that man will be born wise in his natural state, and acceptable to God, will never happen.

There is no such thing as the dignity of man. There is no such thing as the honor among men. There is no such thing as 'if you feel good, then you'll be good,' kind of stuff.

All of the clich s, that portray humanity as something better or other than what he really is, are false, misleading, and distracting statements intended to lead man away from Gods Word. If you never see yourself as imperfect, then you'll never believe that you need God in your life.

Even though Zophar is somewhat of a snob in judging Job, he does have a certain sense of humor about him.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
