Job 14:6

6 Turn [sha`ah] from him, that he may rest [chadal], till he shall accomplish [ratsah], as an hireling [sakiyr], his day [yowm]. KJV-Interlinear

6 'Turn Thy gaze from him that he may rest, Until he fulfills his day like a hired man. NASB

Each and every person is under the constant and close watchful eye of God. Every thought, every motive, every decision, every action is not only watched and monitored, but duly recorded and compared, with the infinite detailed records of the Divine Decrees.

How do we know that our actions are recorded and how do we know that they are compared with Gods original plan? Because we studied that principle in Daniel when Nebuchadnezzar received his warning.

And so Job suggests an alternative treatment of mankind.

'Turn your eyes away from man.'

'Let man live out his life just as a hired man works out his time, and then let him rest after a long days work.'

Only in this case, Job suggests that mans work time is his life, and his time off is the time following his death.

So, the suggestion here is let man simply live unhindered, and without any extra suffering other than that which is considered normal in a typical life, and then let man die and rest in peace forever, and ever.

What possibly could be wrong with that idea? Who could get hurt? Why not just have God sit back and let history run its own natural course, without any intervention from anyone? And that would obviously have to include Satan, too.

But Job knows that this suggestion is not a valid one. Job knows that God has to run history, otherwise man would not continue to exist apart from Gods guiding hand.

To allow man the opportunity to live his life free from any intervention from God, without any support from God, without any resources supplied from God, is to imply that humanity has the resources and power, and wisdom to actually support himself throughout history.

And such is not the case.

Even in our current day, the winds of retreat and cowardice are sweeping our own government, as liberals galore are coming out of the woodwork with their oozing confidence that they are doing what the voters overwhelmingly want.

They are not interested in defeating an evil terrorist enemy. They are only interested in leading what they believe to be a citizenry who doesn't want to fight anymore. They are buying votes from a defeated constituency.

How can humanity be left to its own devices, when throughout history people who have taken the evil side of life are left free to rule with their tyranny, and when the passive crowd, doesn't want to get involved? Who do you suppose the next victims will be?

Does mankind have the inner resources with which to maintain order in society? No.

Does mankind have the knowledge with which to fight off famine, disease, storms, economic distress? No.

Does mankind have the power to defeat sin or death? No.

Do we know what mankind can do? Yes. Man can be a shadow. Man can be useless dust. Man can be a rotting putrid vessel.

What resources and intrinsic power does mankind have anyway? Nothing.

And yet humanity in general will invent his own version of truth. Humanity will build up temples to himself. Humanity will reason anything, which is compatible with his own feelings or desires, or in some cases, his anger.

Can God turn His back and let life just go its own way? No. Because life has no authority, no truth, no reality apart from God, who is the source of all of those things.

Humanity was invented in order to settle the dispute between Satan, and God. Satan has made all of these claims, and more, suggesting that he should be let alone to live his life in anyway he sees fit. And for that the entire universe, all of creation, groans at his pattern of evil.

God has demonstrated through Job, and many more people like him, that Satan is wrong, and that the pattern of evil, if not faced square on, will destroy everything in its path.

Evil is anti-truth. Evil is a lie. Evil can never be trusted.

God is truth. God is dependable. God is the source of everything that is good. God is life. God is the source of life.

Anything in opposition to God, is the same as pursuing a lie, as pursuing putrid corruption, as pursuing an endless emptiness.

Now is the time to post a prayer.
