Job 16:14

14 He breaketh [parats] me with breach [perets] upon [paniym] breach [perets], he runneth [ruwts] upon me like a giant [gibbowr]. KJV-Interlinear

14 'He breaks through me with breach after breach; He runs at me like a warrior. NASB

The word for breach, 'perets,' carries the connotation of bursting out, to spread out, to spread abroad, to compel, to increase, scatter, to urge.

And so the onslaught of God to every believer in life, is the permitted ongoing exposure to the world, which is foreign to every believer. Believers live in this world but our home is not in this world. We are ambassadors of sorts, representatives from heaven, our home country.

As visitors here in this world, we are not its citizens, and the world does not see that we have any rights as non-citizens. Thus an adversarial relationship exists between believers and the world.

As believers, we stand out. You can probably look around where you live and see the difference between the normal residents of your country and the visitors. In some cases their dress, or their manner, or just their looks make that apparent. We as believers stand out like a sore thumb.

And more than that, we as positive and growing believers stand out even more as far as this world is concerned. Believers who have gone cold toward their spiritual lives, and have more or less adopted the lifestyles of the world, will try to blend in with the world. But those too, are obvious foreigners trying to fake their way in this world.

You can think of the world as a very biased and prejudiced place. Foreigners regardless of their adaptation to the world, are still outsiders.

And so, life is a continual onslaught of pressures, which God allows. It is good for believers so that they learn that they do not belong, so that they cease trying to conform to the standards of the world, so that they pursue their spiritual life.

But the world will attack and attack from every possible direction. Believers will be attacked through tyranny, through enticement, through compromising suggestions, through all kinds of ideas and philosophies.

Believers will be attacked through sin and lusts, through disappointments and anxieties, through tests of their patience and faith. The world has many warriors, many points of attack, many arrows, and when you think you are free from the influence of the world, you are just fooling yourself. Movies, publications, music, marketing, news coverage, politics, crusades, warnings of world disasters, all of these and far more are there attempting to lure you away from the divine viewpoint of life.

The world will even skew the meanings of the scriptures in order to sow the seeds of doubt, or compromise, or alternative lifestyles into your thinking.

Only those folks who are on their guard through a continual daily study, will have access to the necessary spiritual tools, to be able to discern the difference between the truth and the subtleties of the world.

When you believed in Christ, at that very instant in time, you died to the world and were reborn into the spiritual life. Once born, you cannot unborn yourself. Once separated permanently from a former life, you cannot return back to that life with any degree of success.

Some may try to return, but what God has done, no man can undo.

God is the enemy of the world, and being separated from the world, you too become its enemy because of your association, through Christ, to God. The world loves its own and hates that which does not belong to it.

Actually the world hates everything, but it hates believers more than its own.

The world operates twenty-four hours a day and is relentless in all of its activities, in all of its attacks against truth, trying to water down or direct your attentions away from God.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
