Job 20:8

8 He shall fly away [`uwph] as a dream [chalowm], and shall not be found [matsa']: yea, he shall be chased away [nadad] as a vision [chizzayown] of the night [layil]. KJV-Interlinear

8 'He flies away like a dream, and they cannot find him; Even like a vision of the night he is chased away. NASB

Dreams and visions here a similar.

Dreams are images we have in our sleep, or often times when we are awake, such as in daydreams. They slip through our minds quickly and often times have no continuity or flow to them.

Visions are dreams with greater continuity, sequence, and detail. In visions, colors are more vivid, objects or people seem more real and detailed. Visions, or we could call them more in depth dreams, can overflow into physical reactions or responses. We can experience moments of pleasure or moments of terror as our unconscious minds take us for a ride through the sights, and sounds, and smells which are totally developed from within our mind.

But whether dreams or visions, both are experiences detached from reality. They are not real, and they occur during a state or semi-consciousness or total unconsciousness.

When we snap out of them, when we resume our consciousness, when we wake up or when we redirect our waking attentions back to what is before us, both dreams and visions vanish into nothingness.

They were nothing before and return to nothing when reality resumes.

Such is the person who ignores their spiritual life. Zophar call such a person, wicked. But remember that wickedness is not reserved exclusively for really bad tyrants of criminal types.

Anyone who lives their life out of fellowship, is by definition, wicked. This applies to you when you do not confess your sins in order to resume your fellowship status. This certainly includes all unbelievers.

But whether an unbeliever or a negative believer, where ones life is established in the pattern of an everyday out of fellowship state, makes no difference in this life.

There is a big difference between believers and unbelievers after death, but in this life, they are very similar.

The wicked person is as though they were nothing at all. They are dreams. They are visions. They exist as empty images in ones mind for a short time, and then they are gone.

Their life, as that of a dream, is empty, with no substance, no beginning and no real end, no accomplishments, no achievements, no meaning, no purpose, and no direction. They come and go on a whim, and are sooner or later, forgotten.

Bible doctrine is the only, repeat, the only thing, which brings meaning and purpose into ones life. And that means Bible doctrine that is transferred into ones soul through the daily learning and utilization process of the spiritual life.

Without your spiritual life, you are nothing.

Pursuing other philosophies, or cults, or religions, all of which have been invented by someone else, does not, and will never, improve your life. I included a list of philosophies in yesterdays study, but if we added the lists of cults and religions to that list, then the length of the study would expand probably another twenty pages, there are so many of them.

Bible doctrine gives man all that he would ever need in order to see and understand the realities of life, and orient to life. But when man rejects truth, then the imagination runs wild and the alternate beliefs start coming out of the woodwork. People invent beliefs that have no basis in fact.

Such is the foolishness of man while rejecting truth which is given by God, freely to all, but is rejected in favor of beliefs so numerous that your head should be spinning at all of the alternate ideas out there.

And, as go the dreams and visions when one wakes up, and here death is the ultimate waking up or separation from those dreams and visions, then so too the life of the spiritually negative person comes to his swift destruction, to his utter and total destruction, and to his final destruction.

When dreams stop, they are gone, and so too is the meaning and purpose of the life of the wicked. You don't want to include yourself within this category of people who will end up with utterly wasted lives.
