Job 20:23

23 When he is about to fill [male'] his belly [beten], God shall cast [shalach] the fury [charown] of his wrath ['aph] upon him, and shall rain [matar] it upon him while he is eating [lachuwm]. KJV-Interlinear

23 'When he fills his belly, God will send His fierce anger on him And will rain it on him while he is eating. NASB

One filling his belly, is a gluttonous self-centered person. He fills and fills, eats, and eats, pursues and pursues, anything and everything that benefits himself and only himself.

Whether a person is greedy and selfish in business or in his career, or whether a person is absorbed by his own beliefs perhaps even a do-gooder, or whether a person is driven by criminal or social pursuits, or something else, all of these who reject God, Christ, and doctrine (and this means the legitimate function of them) in their individual lives, qualify as gluttons.

This has included you at some point, or perhaps still applies to you, in your life.

One of the most difficult things you can do in life, is to be continually patient in your daily Bible study. In the spiritual life, things just do not happen overnight. But then God is preparing you during the entire course of your life, not just while you are in school, or in business, or on weekends, or whenever is suits you.

The spiritual life is not a convenience nor your right. It is Gods gift. And it is a gift of immense value.

Rejecting the spiritual life means that you will be pursuing the things of this world. And the things of this world are of no more value than old doggie doo-doo.

Yet, people all over the world will fight over the worldly things, the doggie doo-doo, while simultaneously rejecting the gold of heaven.

During ones life the difficulties of the world exist. After you die, those difficulties cease. So you only have this life to experience, and be hammered by, the jungle rules here on earth. God so allows and limits this activity in order to, hopefully, get your attention, and to get you back on track in your spiritual life.

While you are filling your belly, while you are engrossed in the things of this world, the rains of worldly trouble will be there to constantly pursue you. You can never escape them.

Happiness, contentment, completion, and meaning, and purpose of ones life will never come to the spiritually negative person.
