Job 22:14

14 Thick clouds [`ab] are a covering [cether] to him, that he seeth [ra'ah] not; and he walketh [halak] in the circuit [chuwg] of heaven [shamayim]. KJV-Interlinear

14 'Clouds are a hiding place for Him, so that He cannot see; And He walks on the vault of heaven.' NASB

Eliphaz continues stating what he believes are the sentiments of Job. He has concluded that Job believes that God cannot see earth because of his great distance from earth, that God cannot judge the earth because of the darkness that lies between heaven and earth, that God cannot know of the evils that occur on this earth because of the vast layers of clouds, and that God is simply too busy with all of his duties in heaven, to be bothered with any administration of planet earth.

Isa. 40:22

22 It is He who sits above the vault of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in. NASB

Eliphaz gives us a clue as to the relationship between heaven and earth. And that clue is the reference to the vault in which earth and this universe seem to be enclosed. God walks the circuit, or the outside circumference of this vault. Heaven resides outside of this vault.

The universe is so huge, that man will never be able to see heaven or God, even with centuries more of technological advances in telescopes. Just as man cannot come to know God now without salvation and a spiritual life, so too, mans sight is limited to just this universe and no further.

Eliphaz has missed the point completely with regard to what Job believes. But he does give us good doctrine with regard to the administration and knowledge, and abilities of God.

The sun in our solar system is 93 million miles away and yet its light can reach all of the way to earth. We can even get sunburned by its light.

The moon is not the source of light but there is enough light from the sun to reflect off of the moon, and provide sufficient light during our nighttime.

The stars are even further distant from our planet, and their light is able to reach us, even through dense clouds of whatever is out there in space, between them and us.

But God is not an inanimate object. He is not a burning star. God is further still from planet earth, and God is able to see perfectly, even into the secret hidden and dark places of our soul.

God is able to see all things. There are no clouds, no barriers, nothing which can hide things from Gods sight.

God is omniscient and omnipotent, and possesses all foreknowledge of the history of all of creation, such that He can administer everything with the mere power of His thoughts. He is not overwhelmed with the vast magnitude of the details of history.

The work of creation is said to be the work of His fingers, the work of salvation the work of His arm.

Imagine what God could do if He put both arms and legs and His back into an effort!

This is of course figurative, but it should give you pause to consider Gods infinite capabilities, given the magnitude of our universe which is nothing more than a simple task for God.

What then is God capable of doing for you?

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
