Job 29:1

1 Moreover Job ['Iyowb] continued [yacaph] [nasa'] his parable [mashal], and said ['amar], KJV-Interlinear

1 And Job again took up his discourse and said, NASB

Job has finished his comparison of the ingenuity and cleverness of man, to the infinite wisdom and power of God. There is no contest in that regard.

Now, in these next two chapters, Job will contrast his present condition with that of his past.

Before, Job was quite wealthy, quite prosperous, and very well respected by both the young and old. Something that his three friends seemed to have forgotten or at the very least simply disregarded.

But as we will see in due course, ones circumstances on this earth are irrelevant to ones spiritual condition. God can do what He wills, when He wills, without regard to any set of circumstances that man might be faced with.

Too often, people are overwhelmed with emotion when they hear stories of people rising above their situation and conquering their difficulties.

Likewise there are many who try to find excuses in life because someone has taken advantage of them, has cheated them, has said something bad against them, someone has acted with prejudice against them, has abused them and this list can go on and on and on.

But God has demonstrated with innumerable examples of peoples in history, that any set of circumstances can be overcome.

People have been born poor and have become wealthy. People have been born wealthy and have lost it all. People have been abused and have risen above their heartache. People have been thrown into concentration camps and have survived. In fact there is most likely no set of circumstances that have not been made an example of in all of human history.

So, in short, no matter who you are, no matter what your past, you do not have anything unique about you that cannot be handled by God. To presume so simply means that you are arrogant and na ve about life and God.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
