Joel 2:23-25

Lesson # Joel 2:23-25
Study Material - Joel 2:23-25

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Joel 2:23-25

23 Be glad [giyl] then, ye children [ben] of Zion [Tsiyown] , and rejoice [samach] in the LORD [Yahovah] your God [elohiym] : for he hath given [nathan] you the former rain [mowreh] moderately [tsadaqah] , and he will cause to come down [yarad] for you the rain [geshem] , the former rain [mowreh] , and the latter rain [malqowsh] in the first [ri'shown] month.
24 And the floors [goren] shall be full [male] of wheat [bar] , and the fats [yeqeb] shall overflow [shuwq] with wine [tiyrowsh] and oil [yitshar] .
25 And I will restore [shalam] to you the years [shaneh] that the locust [arbeh] hath eaten [akal] , the cankerworm [yekeq] , and the caterpiller [chaciyl] , and the palmerworm [gazam] , my great [gadowl] army [chayil] which I sent [shalach] among you. KJV-Interlinear

23 So rejoice, O sons of Zion, And be glad in the LORD your God; For He has given you the early rain for your vindication. And He has poured down for you the rain, The early and latter rain as before. 24 And the threshing floors will be full of grain, And the vats will overflow with the new wine and oil. 25 'Then I will make up to you for the years That the swarming locust has eaten, The creeping locust, the stripping locust, and the gnawing locust, My great army which I sent among you. NASB

Rejoice is a word for happiness restored. The sorrow of the attack of the locusts (difficulties of the world) is to be removed. God sent them, and God will remove them. Though we face many obstacles in this world, there is none which God cannot remove.

God restores the rain (of righteousness) for it is from the rain that prosperity is restored. Without Gods rain (righteousness acquired through faith in Christ, righteousness through spiritual growth from Bible study), then there is no prosperity, no promise, nothing to look forward to in life.

This is one of the basic principles taught by the Bible. God is the source of all the life giving rain. The before rain - any and all provision even prior to our existence, and prior to the difficulties we come face to face with in life, and the latter rain - all future promise, and hope, and security which we potentially can acquire from God.

When we place our lives in the sphere of His will, and that simply means when we study our Bible everyday, when we place ourselves in fellowship, when we comply with that which the Bible teaches us, then prosperity will abound in our lives.

If you have faded away, and had to be disciplined with the invasion of the locusts (so to speak), and then return to God, then you will recover whatever it was you have lost, and then some. This recovery only accompanies your repentance (your change of attitude) toward God, and with that, your compliance with His will.

Don't try to come back half way, or come back to God with certain strings or conditions attached to your attitude. Don't play games with God, don't try to add your own personal rules to that which God expects of you. Don't keep trying to make exceptions or incorporate compromises into Gods Word.

Too often people will do just that (subtly) and they wonder why this Bible stuff doesn't seem to work. Then there are those who try to bargain with God. 'Ok God, I'll come back if you do this or that for me!' Remember that God doesn't need you. Not at all. But you do need Him. So mankind (that is you and me) does not have any kind of a bargaining position. Zip. We don't have anything to offer God. We have nothing He would want.

What folks need to do is reevaluate their individual lives, and ask themselves (that means you), 'Am I in compliance with Gods will?'

If you are consistent in your daily study.
If you are consistent in your fellowship status.
If you are genuinely interested and desirous of growing up spiritually.
If you apply what you learn, to your daily life.
If you are obedient (this is the tough one), if you are obedient to the things God expects of you - complying with those three areas of responsibility we have studied time and time again. Responsibility to God, to self, to others.

Then if the above apply to your life, then you are in compliance with Gods will.

But, if you have any issues with any of the above, then you have compromised something in the teaching of the Word of God, with which you don't agree, with which you don't believe, with which you just want to ignore, and to that extent you are out of Gods will.

Only you can evaluate yourself. Well, God can evaluate you but He will not make your mind up for you. You have to look at yourself in the mirror (honestly) and evaluate yourself, then make the necessary changes in your life. Don't be the fool and pretend that all is right when it is not.

God is the provider, the source of all blessing. All good things come from God. This blessing comes to you via your spiritual life. This is the secret of your being a winner in life. The sooner you understand this, the sooner you can get along with your spiritual success.

The longer you put off objectively evaluating yourself, the longer you delay the great blessings which God has waiting for you. Remember that you and you alone make or break your eternal blessing. Only you and God are concerned with your future. No one else on this earth is involved in your personal spiritual life. There is no one to convince, no one else to prove anything to, no one else to gain acceptance from. God alone is your evaluation judge.

So we live our life before Him. We don't live our life to impress (or fool) people. People can do nothing for our spiritual life.

Perhaps a check list is necessary in order to gauge where you are in your spiritual life.

Your position in Christ: (Salvation is a prerequisite to your even having a spiritual life.)
1. Have you believed in Jesus Christ?

Without being saved - nothing else below applies.

Your function in Christ: (Fellowship is a prerequisite to your functioning in your spiritual life.)
2. Do you evaluate yourself for sin in your life (see the chart of human carnal nature for a guide to this)?
3. Based on that evaluation (done frequently day to day), do you confess your sins to God the Father? This is necessary in order to reside in the fellowship sphere.

Without being in fellowship - nothing else below applies.

Your function in your study: (Study is a prerequisite to building your spiritual foundation.)
4. Do you study your Bible daily (Church, Bible class, etc.)? (No skipping days, or weeks, no excuses).
5. Do you memorize Bible verses? This helps you to recall Bible principles and builds on your overall understanding.
6. Do you ponder or discuss the things you learn each day in Bible class? This helps you to relate Bible principles to practical daily life.
7. Do you write notes during your study? This helps you to learn and retain the things you have just read or heard.

Without learning and understanding - nothing else below applies.

Your function in your daily life: (Application of what you learn is a prerequisite to your spiritual production.)
8. Do you pray regularly? Morning, noon, night, meal time. Pray in thanks, for others, for self.
9. Do you apply Bible principles to your daily life? Honesty, integrity, patience, poise, impersonal love, faith.
10 Do you comply with your obligations and responsibilities to God, to self, to spouse, to family, to your education, to your work, to your community?
11. Do you support or promote the teaching of the Word of God? (To prevent selfishness and greed in yourself.)
12. Do you give to charity to help others in need? (To promote compassion and empathy for others.)

Without application of what you know to your daily life - there is no production in your spiritual life.

Summary: Your spiritual production is the result of your entire spiritual life - items 1-12 above. Production is the gold, silver, and precious stones of spiritual wealth on which you will be evaluated at the judgment Seat of Christ. This evaluation is the most important of your entire existence. It affects your eternal destiny.

Now back to our study. God provides us with information. If we disregard that information (in effect disregard God) then an army of worldly problems will invade our space. This is not a good thing!

It is far better to pay heed to God and what He has to say and offer, and to comply with His will. Life is much better when we do.

End of lesson.

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
