Joel 3:13-14

Lesson # Joel 3:13-14
Study Material - Joel 3:13-14

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Joel 3:13-14

13 Put [shalach] ye in the sickle [maggal] , for the harvest [qatsiyr] is ripe [bashal] : come [bow] , get you down [yarad] ; for the press [gath] is full [male] , the fats [yeqeb] overflow [shuwq] ; for their wickedness [ra] is great [rab] .
14 Multitudes [hamown] , multitudes [hamown] in the valley [emeq] of decision [charuwts] : for the day [yowm] of the LORD [Yahovah] is near [qarowb] in the valley [emeq] of decision [charuwts] . KJV-Interlinear

13 Put in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe. Come, tread, for the wine press is full; The vats overflow, for their wickedness is great. 14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision! For the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision. NASB

Joel presents in picture form, the events and circumstances of the end days of the Tribulation. The events immediately preceding the Second Advent and the Day of the Lord.

In all of our individual lives we all have to make a choice, with respect to our spiritual life. We either choose for God, or we don't. There is no third choice, no in between choice. A no choice, or indifference, is one of anti-God.

Isa. 7:9
If you will not believe, you surely shall not last. NASB

The sickle is an instrument of harvest, but it is also an instrument of judgment. The fields are ripe and ready for harvest. And the crop here is the evil of mankind in those last days. Multitudes upon multitudes stands for huge numbers of peoples. Evil people. How many people? Who knows. That depends on when the Rapture occurs.

If the Rapture were to occur in our current day, then we have now about six billion plus, people on planet earth. Some statistics say that there are two billion Christians in that number. If true, then that would leave four billion left to enter into the Tribulation after the Rapture removes all believers in Christ.

We know that during the failed utopia of Satan during the first half of the Tribulation (from our Revelation study), that one-fourth of humanity will die due to many things - disease, crime, starvation, etc. In the second half of the tribulation we know that another one-third will die due to the attacks from Satan's huge demon armies who are released to kill mankind.

With a little math that leaves about two billion. Which is one third of the original number prior to the Rapture. (six - two = four, four - 25% = three, three - 1/3rd = two billion). Also, there will be many martyred believers during the Tribulation and especially in the second half of time period. The Scriptures indicate that those numbers will be huge. Likewise, there will be a remnant of believers who will survive to the Second advent and will live into the Millennium. So of that two billion left over number, it must be further reduced by those last two components (an unknown) and that leaves the number of unbelievers on earth.

Ok, if the Rapture does not occur for another hundred years, then all the numbers change of course. If our population growth continues to rise at a similar rate, wherein the population of planet earth doubles every 30 years, then we will see about fifty billion people on this earth by the year 2100. Since things will be much worse in the Tribulation, and since it is that last generation which will be very wicked, then we can assume that the numbers of believers prior to the Rapture will be a lessor portion of the earths population (fewer believers, less blessing from God therefore bigger problems).

So you can play the numbers game all you want and figure just how many people will probably be around to see those last days of judgment. And of course this is all a guessing game anyway since we don't know when the Rapture is going to occur.

What we do know is that the human race will be loaded to the gills with evil and defiance, and the call to the valley of decision is now set. And, all of mankind (evil mankind) will rush, in their arrogance, to that last decision of life.

When it is all over the annihilation will be so great (the wine press with its vats running over they are so full of the blood of the dead - figuratively speaking), that the survivors and the birds (scavengers) will bury the dead for seven months, Eze. 39.

But here we have the picture of the spiritual state of the human race as a whole. It is extremely low, as mankind is so full of evil. In those days, when all the worlds armies have assembled themselves in the Middle East and throughout the world, and just prior to their last and final assault in which every human being will die, then a miracle will occur.

Three things will occur. Just as grace often precedes judgment, so too, God will bring terror just prior to this last and final judgment. The visual will be witnessed - a supernatural darkness. The sounds of judgment will reach the ears of all of humanity, and then the end will come. And we will get into that study tomorrow.

End of lesson.

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
