Leviticus 2:14-16

Lesson # Leviticus 2:14-16
Study Material - Leviticus 2:14-16

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Lev. 2:14-16

14 'Also if you bring a grain offering of early ripened things to the LORD, you shall bring fresh heads of grain roasted in the fire, grits of new growth, for the grain offering of your early ripened things. 15 'You shall then put oil on it and lay incense on it; it is a grain offering. 16 'And the priest shall offer up in smoke its memorial portion, part of its grits and its oil with all its incense as an offering by fire to the LORD.

If the offering is made of the first fruits, 'new growth', and, 'also', offered at the Feast of the First Fruits, then it needs to be new grain, 'corn', from the early ripened harvest. It is to be dried, roasted by means of fire. It is to be beaten out of the heads, as Christ was, 'wounded for our sins, bruised for our iniquities', Isa. 53:5.

The full ears, heads, represent the perfection of Christ being cut out of the living, at Gods right time, at harvest time, the proper time for the Cross in history, Job 5:26.

This, the last of the gift offerings, speaks to the resurrection of Christ. At the Cross, when all the work of the Cross was completed, three things happened. Jesus' body went into the grave, Luke 23:53. His soul went into Hades, or more specifically, into the compartment in Hades known as Paradise, Psa. 16:10, Luke 23:43. His spirit ascended into heaven into the presence of the Father, Luke 23:46.

The transition from death to resurrection is presented by the pouring of oil and the laying of frankincense on the offering. It was not mixed in, but laid on top.

The oil speaks to the appointment of Christ. He was appointed to the Cross. He was appointed to the judgment. He was appointed to resurrection. And at resurrection the Father sent the human spirit back to the body, the resurrection body, Acts 2:24. The soul was sent back from Paradise, Psa 16:10, Rom. 8:11.

This offering was to be set on the alter as a 'memorial' and burned. The flour offerings were not burned during the Feast of the First Fruits, but this offering was burned as a memorial, a remembrance. 'This do in remembrance of Me.'

Remembrance implies knowledge. Knowledge implies instruction and learning at some point in time prior to this offering, therefore previous Bible study. One cannot remember what one has not already learned. So prior learning, therefore prior Bible study is necessary in order to remember.

This offering is the last of the gift offerings, and the second offering we have studied in this current study in Leviticus. The first offering, the burnt offering, speaks to the work of Christ on the Cross and the resulting atonement (covering) of our sins and the propitiation of God resulting from that work. God is satisfied.

This gift offering speaks to the propitiation of God from the stand point of the person of Christ. His impeccable life in both thought and deed. And of the necessity of remembering on a regular basis the word of God which teaches of the Savior, Jesus Christ, and the impact He has on our individual lives as the written word, Bible doctrine, and as the living word, Jesus Christ.

The daily offering ritual in those days was their remembrance, just as in or current day, our Bible study serves as our daily reminder. We are commanded to keep on remembering. Keep on recalling to mind, the things that we have learned. To retain them, and continue our advance in our spiritual lives.

To ignore that command is to invite defeat into our lives. Bible study is not always exciting. Daily lessons do not always have dragons and supernatural miracles to entertain us. Some lessons are rather dull and teach things like these passages have taught in the offering process. But we are not to abandon our study or even to skip over any given section of the Bible just because it isn't interesting. Therein lies the true test of ones perseverance.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
