Leviticus 4:32-35

Lesson # Leviticus 4:32-35
Study Material - Leviticus 4:32-35

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Lev. 4:32-35

32 'But if he brings a lamb as his offering for a sin offering, he shall bring it, a female without defect. 33 'And he shall lay his hand on the head of the sin offering, and slay it for a sin offering in the place where they slay the burnt offering. 34 'And the priest is to take some of the blood of the sin offering with his finger and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering; and all the rest of its blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar. 35 'Then he shall remove all its fat, just as the fat of the lamb is removed from the sacrifice of the peace offerings, and the priest shall offer them up in smoke on the altar, on the offerings by fire to the LORD. Thus the priest shall make atonement for him in regard to his sin which he has committed, and he shall be forgiven.

Chapter four rounds out the offering for the unknown sins with the sin offering of a lamb, a female lamb, by common folks. These are people like you and me, not of high rank in society, not the mega-wealthy jet set, not government leaders, and so forth.

This is an offering that emphasizes the 'lamb of God concept'. A female for the passive volition of Christ while on the Cross. A lamb for the silence of His response to the terrible treatment and unfairness with which people dealt with Him. He opened not His mouth.

The offering as in the previous offerings, was brought to the alter and there the ritual transfer of the sins to the animal was performed with the hand placed on the head of the animal. Then the slaughter, the collection of the blood, the placement of the blood on the horns of the alter, the pouring out of the remaining of the blood at the base of the alter, the skinning of the animal and removal of the fat, kidneys, and covering of the liver, and its burning on the alter. Then the removal of the remaining parts of the animal to a place outside of the tabernacle and there burned completely until only ashes remained.

These steps apply to everyone, or rather, the principles of the sin offering which are being taught, apply to everyone. Just as there is only one sacrifice (Christ on the Cross), one salvation, so also there is only one confession which applies to believers only. These offerings did not apply to unbelievers. A person who has not believed in Christ does not have any right of access to God until he first accepts the plan of God with respect to the Cross. This is why the alter for the burnt offering is seen first, the judgment of sin, then the brazen laver is seen next, the washing of sin (forgiveness), then and only then is the believer allowed inside the tabernacle to have fellowship with God.

This confession is between man and God. Never between man and man. I know that there are those beliefs where people go to a priest to give their confession, but that is a distortion of Bible doctrine. We are all priests in this Church Age, therefore we have no need to go through a priest to gain access to God. Likewise, no man can forgive you of your sins. All sin is against God and only God can forgive. Just as only God can judge sin, or discipline for sin, then the consequences of sin must be dealt with by God, and each one of us must direct our attentions to this subject directly to God and no one else. This is a private matter between man and God. Your sins are no one else's business - not family, not priests, not even grandma.

Though there have been several offerings for this sin offering ritual, they all teach Bible doctrine with respect to forgiveness of sin. There are two topics which are concerned with sin - first there is judgment, and second there is forgiveness. Judgment occurred at the Cross, the alter of the burnt sacrifice. Forgiveness occurred as a result of the Cross with the results of the work of the Cross, the blood, being offered to God on the alter of prayer (incense) The Cross is the basis for our relationship with God, and that is really what the Christian way of life is - a relationship with God. All other religion is just that, religion, or man by mans efforts seeking the approval of God, pseudo propitiation, pseudo atonement.

But Christianity in this respect is not a religion, it is a relationship whereby God by Gods efforts created a path for mans salvation, and by Gods efforts, God is propitiated, man is atoned and reconciled. Man had no part in the process, so mans works, mans efforts are of no consequence. To modify Gods plan by adding something to it is to insult God, and demonstrate mans stupidity.

There remains only one more offering ritual, that for known sins, or sins we commit knowing that they are sins, but we do them anyway. We will cover that topic in chapter 5, and complete our study of the five basic offerings, then resume our Bible study rotation in Joshua.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
