Leviticus 5:6-10

Lesson # Leviticus 5:6-10
Study Material - Leviticus 5:6-10

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Lev. 5:6-10

6 'He shall also bring his guilt offering to the LORD for his sin which he has committed, a female from the flock, a lamb or a goat as a sin offering. So the priest shall make atonement on his behalf for his sin. 7 'But if he cannot afford a lamb, then he shall bring to the LORD his guilt offering for that in which he has sinned, two turtledoves or two young pigeons, one for a sin offering and the other for a burnt offering. 8 'And he shall bring them to the priest, who shall offer first that which is for the sin offering and shall nip its head at the front of its neck, but he shall not sever it. 9 'He shall also sprinkle some of the blood of the sin offering on the side of the altar, while the rest of the blood shall be drained out at the base of the altar: it is a sin offering. 10 'The second he shall then prepare as a burnt offering according to the ordinance. So the priest shall make atonement on his behalf for his sin which he has committed, and it shall be forgiven him.

Three animals are potential offering animals. The lamb, representing the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ, the innocent person sacrificed in our place for unlimited atonement. The goat representing the substitutionary sacrifice, the passive volition of Christ while on the Cross, the passive requirement of our confession, in that we really have no choice being locked in by sin and having this only means of escape during our Christian life. The two birds, doves of pigeons, for those who have lessor economic means, the poor of the land. The first bird is given for the unknown sin offering, and the second bird for a burnt known sin offering.

These two sin offerings - the unknown and the known cannot be separated from each other. Sin is sin regardless if you knew about it or not. You still did the deed or thought, and are therefore guilty. There is no variation in guilt. No degrees of guilt. You can not be 10% guilty, or 50 % guilty, or have a little bit more or a little bit less guilt than someone else. Guilty is guilty. You either committed a sin or you did not, and if so, then guilty as charged. Period.

We cannot play games with God. We cannot legitimately justify our thoughts or actions in sin, regardless of the sin. Once in the family of God, and we gain entry into that family through belief in Christ, as an adopted adult first born son, then we are bound by the rules of the family. God the Father is the head of the family. Though Jesus Christ is to inherit all authority at some point in the future, even Christ submitted Himself to the authority of the Father. We can do no less.

We are commanded to follow the procedure of confession in order to receive forgiveness. Again, there are two components of action against sin which occurred at the Cross. On the Cross God judged sin on the person of Jesus Christ. As a result of this penalty payment. God is now free to forgive us. And He does this when we confess. At the initial point of our salvation, when we first believed in Christ, we were both saved and forgiven simultaneously. But with the very next sin, which could very well have been just minutes or even hours later, we would be out of fellowship and in a state of unforgiveness. At some point in the future we would have to learn the confession procedure academically and then follow through with it in order to get back into fellowship and then begin our spiritual growth. All spiritual life, spiritual growth, spiritual learning, spiritual benefits, etc. occur only while in fellowship. They never occur while outside the fellowship sphere - ie. outside the tabernacle.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
