Prov. 5:15-17

Lesson # Prov. 5:15-17
Study Material - Prov. 5:15-17

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Prov. 5:15-17

15 Drink water from your own cistern, And fresh water from your own well. 16 Should your springs be dispersed abroad, Streams of water in the streets? 17 Let them be yours alone, And not for strangers with you.

In eternity past God declared the decrees of history. He looked at all the possible paths for history and selected the one best suited for all of creation. See the decrees chart on the index page. Included in those decrees was a specific path for each one of us. God knows how each of us will function in our volition and what path each one of us will take. He has also made provisions for us personally. And those provisions are our own personal well, cistern, the source of our drinking and quenching pleasures. The source of our personal satisfactions for maximum contentment in each of our lives.

So why not drink out of our personal blessing package. Why waste time seeking another package which does not exist. Centuries ago men sought the fountain of youth, yet it did not exist. They looked for something that was pure fiction. Any person rejecting Bible doctrine has only one course to follow ant that course comes with no map or compass. It comes with no reference points to determine ones position. It comes with no means of measuring ones advancement toward the perceived goal. The goal of the negative person is ambiguous at best. The negative person thinks he wants success, or happiness, or wealth, or pleasure, but he gains none of these.

God gave each of us a Christmas basket, filled with goodies, but the negative person leaves their personal present under the tree unopened, and goes out into the cold night looking for a better package.

Solomon advises us to dip into our personal well of blessings. And not waste our water for others to take. We have streams full and overflowing filling the streets, flowing to distant places. Tremendous streams of blessing just waiting for us to draw from them. And keeping their refreshment all to ourselves. Our personal blessings package is ours alone and no one else's. Everyone has a package.. No one goes without, except by means of their own negative attitude.

The water is fresh, not old and stale. Not hand me down seconds from others who have worn it out. Our blessings come to us brand new and we become the original owner. The streams flow forever and continuously. There is no end to the flow of blessings to the believer who is positive and advancing to spiritual maturity.

This is a tremendous contrast to the life of the negative person. The person who chases after the life of the adulterous, the stranger, the sin nature who is in us but is a stranger who entices us away from the fulfilling destiny that God has designed for each of us.

The world says, compete, be first, beat out everyone else in this world. To the winner goes all the prizes, and to those who come in second or worse, there is nothing. But God says we can all be winners. And there is a prize beyond our wildest dreams for everyone who wins in their spiritual life. The prize in this world is temporary, and eventually wears out or is spent. But Gods prizes goes on forever, never ending.

Why would anyone chase after life on their own abilities and apart from God if they knew that their quest was futile? Knowing that one only has to study Bible doctrine, remain in fellowship, and advance to maturity, and this is really a very simple task, accomplished by reading your Bible study each day. Not a very strenuous task at all. And the result is tremendous blessing and comfort in life. Happiness beyond description. If someone were to hand you a bar of gold, why would you ignore it and go out into the world to work for your bar of gold, a bar that will never exist?

Yet people reject Bible doctrine. Some simply see no value in Bible doctrine. Others don't see what good can come from reading the Bible. Still others hate God. And all these out of ignorance. Ignorance based on their own negative volition and refusal to hear instruction. The troubled child has problems in life and never realizes that he is the one to blame for his own problems and failures. His life turns to frustration and violence. Still others never grow up and they vent their frustrations by trying to better the world. They crusade for one philosophy or another. They become jealous of the success of others and make up idle gossip and lies against others. They pretend to be followers of some righteous philosophy, yet they violate their own policies. They have abandoned their personal wells, probably never knowing that the well exists, and chase after their blind fantasies.

So Solomon advises us to stay away from this life and follow a life of Bible doctrine wherein we will have unlimited access to our personal vast supply of blessings. Seems like a simple choice!!

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
