Prov. 5:21-23

Lesson # Prov. 5:21-23
Study Material - Prov. 5:21-23

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Prov. 5:21-23

21 For the ways of a man are before the eyes of the LORD, And He watches all his paths. 22 His own iniquities will capture the wicked, And he will be held with the cords of his sin. 23 He will die for lack of instruction, And in the greatness of his folly he will go astray.

All our ways, all our thoughts, all our motives, all our decisions, all our actions are under the scrutiny of God. There is a record in heaven of each of our entire lives. Our daily decisions make or break us.

Clear choices are given to us and the repercussions for those choices are also given. On the one hand we can choose against God and pursue our own way of life. We can be disinterested in God. We can be vehemently opposed to God. We can be anywhere in between in our negative attitude toward God. Some people don't see the value in studying the Bible. Some see the Bible as just something to be recognized on Sundays or perhaps holidays, but otherwise given little recognition during the greater part of ones life.

Life is made up not only of what we can see, but what we cannot see. We have discovered atoms and the molecular level, DNA, proteins, frequencies of many different types and ranges, and much more. But though unseen they are very real and we use them in technology everyday. We believe they exist because we use the products on which they are based. There is still another unseen component to life, which is the spiritual life. This is an aspect of life which cannot be measured by any human means, but is just as real as anything else we can measure. Man has life in his soul, yet we cannot surgically remove that life and transplant it to another brain. We believe in life because we interact with life everyday. Even by looking in the mirror we see life, or something resembling it!!

Solomon closes this proverb with the warning that God sees all and knows all. Choose wisely, because what you choose to believe and follow in life, will determine your destiny. We see God in everything in life, and everyday there is some reference to God which we cannot avoid. God has made promises to us, and gives us choices. We are left to make the decisions either for God or against. There is no in between.

The human soul is rules either by the sin nature or the Bible doctrine. If one does not study the Bible and in the proper way, i.e. in fellowship, then there is no doctrine in that soul. The sin nature is in charge of that life. People can pretend that they have control over their own lives, but they fool themselves. The soul needs nourishment just as the human body needs nourishment. Bible doctrine has all the ingredients necessary for a healthy soul. Apart from doctrine there is nothing in life that can sustain the soul. Time and a negative attitude will take its toll and the result is destruction to ones self.

Proverb 5 gives us a clear picture of the negative person who deteriorates into oblivion, and at their own hands. They reject instruction. They reject good advice. They think they can make it through life on their own abilities, yet they do not even have a score card for measuring their failures as they progress through life. Not seeing the result until it is too late.

The positive person who sees the value of Bible doctrine on the other hand has an asset more valuable than the riches of the world. Bible doctrine gives more than the ideal spouse. Its nourishes, sustains, supports, secures, protects as nothing else in life can. Bible doctrine is described as a deep well with an endless supply of fresh thirst quenching water. It is described as the breast of incomparable beauty and softness, of pleasure and love, of support and nourishment, satisfying at all times the inner most desires one can have, something to be embraced and cherished with the highest regard. Exhilaration, contentment, personal ownership, stability are all descriptions of Bible doctrine. And all this is available by simply being open minded and consistently studying Gods Word daily and throughout ones life. What a small price to pay, virtually nothing, but a bit of time for the chance to be a winner in life.

Some mock at this concept, but what do they have that is better?

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
