Lesson # Prov. 6:6-11 Study Material - Prov. 6:6-11 You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth. Prov. 6:6-11 6 Go to the ant, O sluggard, Observe her ways and be wise, 7 Which, having no chief, Officer or ruler, 8 Prepares her food in the summer, And gathers her provision in the harvest. 9 How long will you lie down, O sluggard? When will you arise from your sleep? 10 'A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to rest'-- 11 And your poverty will come in like a vagabond, And your need like an armed man. Though suretyship to strangers is a quick way to poverty, and the loss of Christ as the friend who has taken on our debt to Himself, now we have the lazy person, the sluggard. The one who loves his life of ease, lives in idleness, minds no business, sticks to nothing, brings nothing to pass, and in a particular manner is careless in the business of his Bible study and therefore his spiritual life. By ignoring daily Bible study, you are taking on the world, that debt is something that you can never repay. In the end, of your life, you have nothing. The lazy person sleeps in late and stays up late. Living his life in the dark of night just as his soul is dark being absent of Bible doctrine. So consider the ant. The lazy won't consider anything. The lazy person knows al there is to know and is unteachable. A barrier of stubbornness erected by himself becomes his own trap. So though by himself to be quite smart in life, is really dumber than the simple ant. Lacking leadership, or direction, the ant knows what needs to be done and does it efficiently. The lazy person may be rich in the worldly sense, or they may be dirt poor playing the welfare system from all the angles. Spending more time in figuring out how to get away with all the handouts and in effect just getting by in life, rather than getting a job and making something of them self. Either way the lazy person is poor in their soul. Granted the road to poverty may be slower than when one signs up for a strangers debt, but the road to poverty will still end up in a miserable life. So the sluggard lies down in life. Too lazy to read even a verse of scripture a day. Too lazy to even open the Bible. Dissatisfied with life, but they make their own life themselves. Day after day goes by. A little sleep, a little slumber, excuse after excuse as to why they should not, or don't have the time for, the responsible things of life, like work of Bible study. Soon your life is used up. A lot of time has gone by. Where did it go? What did the lazy person do or accomplish during all those minutes that combined to make years? It is easy to say to ones self, 'I'll read my Bible tomorrow. I'll do my study on the weekend, when I have more time. I can always make it up later.' Pretty soon our excuses rule us and we do not even realize it. In this day and age we expect to get things really fast. Fast food, next day mail. But in the spiritual life time is really not the issue. Some people ask why we do not stay in one book in this Bible study and finish it. But the study is for the broad picture of spiritual growth, with a long tern timeline. It is not for short term entertainment. We cannot read quickly through a book and expect to learn its entire content. The Bible is intended to teach, and the entire Bible does teach many things throughout its entire content. A great many of which are scattered throughout the Bible. Rotating through the scriptures gives us a clearer picture of Biblical principles and their application. It also ties up the common belief that all scripture was not available to all peoples throughout history, and that simply is not true. Only Church Age doctrine specific to this Church Age was not previously available. And that applies to the formation of the Royal Family which was never revealed. So we stick with our daily study. Plugging away verse by verse. Doing exactly what the lazy person is bored with, never seeing the 'quick' results of their efforts. Bible study is not a quick fix to the life, but a life long commitment to ones spiritual life. The sluggard is not committed to anything except his own short term desires which others provide for him. Like a thief, like a vagabond, like am armed man, the lazy person will lose all they think they have to these foreigners. Others will take from you all that you have. Even time will escape you and the lazy person will wake up one day and find themselves either in heaven or hell and wonder 'what happened?' Dah! The positive believer escapes this trap. Toughing out the seemingly 'boring' repetition of daily Bible study. Keeping his mind sharp and alert. Keeping his soul healthy, and building up treasure in his soul for both time and eternity in Bible doctrine. 
Now is the time to post a prayer. End Of Lesson Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth. |
