Prov. 6:24-29

Lesson # Prov. 6:24-29
Study Material - Prov. 6:24-29

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Prov. 6:24-29

24 To keep you from the evil woman, From the smooth tongue of the adulteress. 25 Do not desire her beauty in your heart, Nor let her catch you with her eyelids. 26 For on account of a harlot one is reduced to a loaf of bread, And an adulteress hunts for the precious life. 27 Can a man take fire in his bosom, And his clothes not be burned? 28 Or can a man walk on hot coals, And his feet not be scorched? 29 So is the one who goes in to his neighbor's wife; Whoever touches her will not go unpunished.

Iniquity can invade us from every direction. From our thoughts. From our spoken words. From our actions. The soul is constantly active in the life, day and night. You may sleep because your body needs rest, but your soul never sleeps regardless if you are conscious or not.

The soul is a sponge. It soaks up anything that is presented to it. If Bible doctrine is presented and if you are positive, then you can absorb Gods Word. If you are negative, or if Bible doctrine is not available, then you absorb whatever the world presents, the truths, the theories, the philosophies, the popular opinions, the marketing schemes. You are barraged with everything imaginable. Sometimes those things are obvious. Sometimes the repetition of advertising or philosophy is subtle and you take it in without realizing it.

Thus Bible doctrine is your defense and your alert guard, keeping you in touch with reality and protecting you from the bad things that you need to avoid in life.

Enter the wild women of life. Now is this a literal lady of the night, such that if you avoid strolling down the boulevard downtown, you'll be safe in life? No. This is the enticement of the sin nature, which certainly includes those loose women, but is not limited to just that kind of activity.

The Bible defines sin in many passages. We just went over the six worst, culminated with the seventh, a combination of the first six. The sins of thought, sins of verbal activity, of overt actions. Without a means to protect us from these sins, we would be swallowed up in sin in its various forms and consequently suffer the consequences.

The evil woman. Remember as defined a woman is the helper of the man. One who assists, who responds to the proper authority, who provides a nest of pleasure and warmth in the proper setting of husband and wife and their intimacy. But here the female is bastardized and made evil. The sin nature, which is in each of us, assumes that role, but from a very different perspective of enticement, of lust satisfaction. It lures us into sin from our weak state ( no Bible doctrine in the soul). It promises us security in its arms. It promises us pleasure to satisfy our perceived needs. But it is false and its results are not profit, but bankruptcy and disaster.

We are lured by the sin nature, by its smooth convincing talk. That little voice inside each one of us telling us that it is ok to do this or that, or think this or that, which we know are wrong, but it is easier to get mad that to exercise self control. It is easier to drink and escape reality with drugs or alcohol than to face reality and be responsible. It is easier to look the other way when others need help, not get involved.

Sin presents a pretty picture. It flirts with you, the blink of the eyes. It lures you in then springs the trap. You are faced with poverty, begging for bread. Trading all you have for just a piece of bread, which is consumed or it will go stale and mold, and once consumed or wasted, it is gone. Bread does not last forever. You can't play with fire without getting burned.

Your life is precious, but sin will take it with promises and lures, and then it will destroy you thoroughly. Where is the danger in life? Begin with your own thinking. The sin nature has two areas within it - human good and sin. All of which are incorporated and are defined as wickedness, or those things which are a result of the production of the sin nature. You can be legalistic - arrogant, self righteous, better than others, or above the sins of others ( nose in the air kind of attitude). You can be lascivious - a hell raiser, drinker, sex pot, bully, tough guy. You can be any combination of these you can imagine. Sin is a huge web of traps, and traps within traps. And it all begins with your thinking. Clean up your thinking process and you clean up most of the problems in your life.

Other people are the next problem source. Being tolerant, or simply avoiding the bad crowd will help you avoid their traps. We call this tolerance - love, 'agape', as defined in the New Testament. Learning to get along, live and let live, to tolerate others despite their opinions or attitudes, etc.

Systems provide the third major category of trouble. Dealing with bureaucracies can be a hair pulling experience. Almost any business, great or small, that has become impersonal, any government agency that you would swear intentionally hired people that don't even speak your language, just to frustrate you. Any office driven by its internal politics. Any attempt to accomplish something which is met with constant road blocks, closed minded people, procedural barriers.

Finally there is nature, storms, earthquakes, floods, fires, disasters which you can't possibly control once they are set in motion.

Recognizing the sources of sin is a beginning for avoiding your getting burned. Sin is fire, but then so is human good. Human good is a distraction, an opinion that man can do good from his own source of strength. This is a lie of deception. Good can only come from the strength of God and to us through Bible doctrine. Thinking that one can live a good life and gain Gods approval in that way, is false. God has already defined how we can access Him and approach Him. Jesus Christ is that gate of access, and fellowship is the approach, and Bible doctrine is the common language of communication.

If you flirt with the neighbors wife, the bride of the sin nature (all manner of sin and human good), then you get burned. Judgment is certain and perhaps sudden. But if you commune with God through that single gate of salvation, by means of Bible doctrine, while residing in fellowship, then there is blessing, purpose, and a destiny beyond our comprehension.

We cannot fool God, only ourselves. The sin nature is extremely powerful and deceptive. No human is capable of rising above his sin nature. Only God can defeat sin and death, and give us an avenue of escape while we still live in this jungle world.

Just as the Israelites were apparently trapped against the sea with Pharaoh advancing, so God dropped a wall of fire between the two. Pharaoh was trapped in sin and outside Gods protection. The Israelites were safe behind the wall of fire, inside Gods fellowship. God created the escape for all who were inside His protective sphere, inside the protection of that wall of fire. Those who were outside that wall, died. Those who were inside that wall were delivered.

Gods protection and deliverance and blessing are far more powerful than sin and human ability. Sin and human good deceptions are far more powerful than human ability to control them. We are powerless, and once we realize that, then we are ready to begin learning.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
