Prov. 7:19-23

Lesson # Prov. 7:19-23
Study Material - Prov. 7:19-23

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Prov. 7:19-23

9 'For the man is not at home, He has gone on a long journey; 20 He has taken a bag of money with him, At full moon he will come home.' 21 With her many persuasions she entices him; With her flattering lips she seduces him. 22 Suddenly he follows her, As an ox goes to the slaughter, Or as one in fetters to the discipline of a fool, 23 Until an arrow pierces through his liver; As a bird hastens to the snare, So he does not know that it will cost him his life.

The harlot is really married. Her husband is not home, but has gone away on a long trip. He has taken money and all the necessary things he would need for his trip, therefore the unlikelihood that he will return soon. In fact he most probably will not be back until the next full moon, perhaps a month away. So she implies that there is a lot of time to 'fool around'.

She has many persuasions for enticing the young man into her lair, and into her control. She offers pleasure. She offers satisfaction of his secret lusts. She implies that this 'fun' will be even more so since they won't get caught. It is a private matter between the two of them and no one else will know of it, nor do they need to know.

Who is this harlot? Your sin nature is represented here by the harlot. Your sin nature entices you and promises you all that you desire. You are in fact deceiving yourself. Who will know of your transgressions? God will know. And He is the ultimate judge and jury ....... and executioner.

Nothing that you do in life escapes Gods eyes. He knew of your thoughts, your motives, your actions, long before you even had them. In eternity past God knew exactly what you would think and do throughout your life. God knew in eternity past what everyone would think and do in their individual lives.

So there isn't anything that is hidden from God. Not behind closed doors. Not behind closed curtains. Not in the shadows of the darkest night of the year. Nothing can conceal your thoughts or actions from God.

But the naive person does not know this. The naive person doesn't even consider God as being or having any part in his life. He restricts his perceptions to only those things that he can see, touch, smell, hear, taste, and such. The ignorant person doesn't realize that reality is more than just what can be perceived by the senses. The spiritual component of life eludes anyone who does not consider Bible doctrine.

There are three charts on the Index page which cover the soul. The soul of the unbeliever, the soul of the believer out of fellowship, and the soul of the believer in fellowship. You can print these off, or right click on them and save them to your computer and then using your favorite image program, print them off on paper. Anyway, studying them and comparing them will give you a lot of insight as to the workings of the soul and the importance of fellowship status. For without it, spiritual information does not become beneficial to you. It is just more academic information in your soul like math and science and cooking and such. Unbelievers can read the Bible and even memorize it. Satan knows the Bible forwards and backwards, but it does him absolutely no good.

Without Bible doctrine in the soul, there are no resources with which to fight of these temptations that we have been reading about. Thus sooner or later the arrow of your negative destiny will pierce your liver, as it says. This is the final decision of God and your death - a miserable death.

God is patient. And time is generally always available for one to repent (change ones mind) and get with a program of Bible study. You could live for decades in a negative mode and all the while you are sliding deeper into the pit. Your soul will be deteriorating little by little until some point in time when you will cross over the point of no return. Your soul will be so filled with callousness that you will have prevented your own chance of escape. This happens sooner on some and it takes longer on others. Why would anyone risk their entire lives, now and in eternity, for a simple mess of pottage (something to satisfy the body - temporarily)?

Verse 23 is clear. Your life is on the line.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
