Prov. 9:1

Lesson # Prov. 9:1
Study Material - Prov. 9:1

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Prov. 9:1

1 Wisdom has built her house, She has hewn out her seven pillars;

Wisdom is the Word of God. Here wisdom is in the plural, wisdom's. In Christ there are many hidden treasures. Christ is the living word. We study the written word. Both are one and the same. Having the one, Bible doctrine, you will have both.

Wisdom is knowledge, spiritual knowledge. To be of use that knowledge has to be resident in the soul. In order to get that wisdom into the soul, a daily study routine is necessary.

Wisdom (Bible doctrine) needs to have a home. That home needs to be constructed. Any good home needs a foundation and a support structure. This then becomes the basis for the construction of a 'palace' as it were, in the soul. Bible study is the mechanism for funneling in that building material into the soul. Its seven pillars are the reference to the seven basic steps for advancing to spiritual maturity.

We studies these seven steps in Isa. 11, and Rev. 1. Recall the seven spirits that are always before the throne of God. These seven spirits, or seven pillars are one and the same. They are the mechanism for learning Bible doctrine, for remaining in fellowship, for growing up spiritually, for gaining possession of wisdom.

The seven steps are (and by the way there is a chart outlining these seven, on the Index page), first, salvation. It is necessary to be saved before you can begin to learn Bible doctrine properly. At the moment of salvation you receive a human spirit. Now you have three components to your being (body, soul, and now spirit). Each component has its respective life (biological, human and eternal life's respectively. Each imputed into their respective vessels). The human spirit gives us a mechanism for learning Bible doctrine. Without the human spirit no Bible doctrine can be learned. The human spirit is the gateway between God and the soul. The Holy Spirit is the messenger transporting that information through the human spirit and into the soul. See also the charts on the soul for the believer and the unbeliever. Fellowship is imperative once a person is saved. Fellowship is the state of being perfect in the presence of God. Fellowship can be lost through sin, and regained through confession (private confession directly to God and to no one else)

Second comes knowledge. This is the fundamental perception of Bible doctrine. You learn it. You may not understand it at first, but you learn it and store it in your soul's memory.

Third is understanding. As you learn Bible doctrine, you begin to put things together. You begin to use doctrine in your everyday life. This contributes to your understanding and ability to use doctrine in your life.

Fourth is counsel. You begin to use doctrine as your guide in decision making. God is the only wise counsel.

Fifth is might. Power, poise, stability, a relaxed mental attitude begin to take shape in your life. You are beginning to mature.

Sixth is wisdom. You begin to possess the knowledge that you have learned. Your decisions, your understandings, your clarity of thought is greater that you could have imagined. You begin to orient to life, orient to grace, orient everything around you.

Seventh is the goal of spiritual growth, spiritual maturity. You have respect for God. You have an unparalleled understanding of who and what God is and has done for each one of us. You have a sense of completeness, of contentment, and so forth.

This all, is spiritual growth, and the mechanics of growing to that objective. As you advance in your spiritual life you use more and more doctrine in your life, in your thoughts. As you apply doctrine to your life you begin to enjoy the feast even more. And that brings us to verse two.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
