Prov. 9:6

Lesson # Prov. 9:6
Study Material - Prov. 9:6

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Prov. 9:6

6 'Forsake your folly and live, And proceed in the way of understanding.'

Stop the folly and begin living your life the way it was intended to be lived. Folly, 'pethiy', foolish, simple, deceptive, flattery, enticing, or pursuing ones earthly desires whether desires of intellect or desires of a more carnal nature, makes no difference. Any pursuit in total disregard of Bible doctrine is folly. The last few verses of this proverb there is enticement to come and partake of the secret things of life and that is a pattern of life that leads to doom not satisfaction, of misery not contentment. The life of folly is not a life at all, but a deception with no positive rewards.

To live one has to have a clear line of vision, clear thinking, clear understanding of the world and things seen as well as unseen. This is proceeding in understanding. Bible study provides that understanding.

Today we saw yet another suicide bombing in the Middle East as a hotel. Actually as I am typing this, the story is unfolding on the news. Yesterday there was an earthquake in Afghanistan. Today is Wednesday and this evening Passover will begin.

The world is full of trouble and heartache. Most shake their heads and wonder where it is all going, or what to do about it all, and for each one of us, there is not much we can do except watch events unfold on TV. On this day, nearly two thousand years ago, a man was placed on trial early in the morning. And that was only the first of six abusive trials. By the afternoon on that Wednesday he was hanging on the Cross. Most think of Christ as having been crucified on a Friday, but not so. He was hung on the Cross on a Wednesday, and placed in the grave before sundown on that day. No person could be left hanging on a Cross when Passover began, which is at sundown on this date.

In the grave from Wednesday to Thursday evening is the first day. From Thursday evening to Friday evening is the second day. From Friday evening to Saturday evening is the third day. Sometime after Saturday evening at sundown, Christ arose. This was discovered the next morning, Sunday morning. Most commentators believe that He arose after midnight, Saturday night, when the city was most certainly asleep. By the way there is a chart on the crucifixion of Christ time table on the Index page.

The world is generally asleep whether it is day or night, but the worlds sleep is spiritual and not related to consciousness or the lack thereof. A great deal was happening during those three days and the days that followed. A huge earthquake which could be felt but not seen. Many dead arose and walked the streets which could be seen but not interacted with. Christ went into the underworld and announced His victory and the sealing of the doom of those who were imprisoned there. Christ led a great procession, a parade such as the world had never seen, and did not see, as Christ led the many millions of believers since Adam, from the original Paradise of the underworld, to the new Paradise in heaven. Yet no one saw these events except the angelic realm.

People went about their usual business. They celebrated the Passover in their ignorance not realizing that Christ had just become the reality of the Passover on the Cross. God passed over judgment on mankind and placed it on Christ, who took our place on the Cross.

Today we have the same sort of things happening. Passover begins this evening, Wednesday, and there are more bombings, more violence, more misery. People go about their business going to and coming from work. Life is same-o, same-o.

So wisdom is still calling even today. Forsake, stop pursuing, the folly of ignoring God in your life and pursue God in a daily Bible study program. In other words, add Bible study to your life. Then life will take a very different turn and a positive one for you. 'And live', without the spiritual component of your life, you are incomplete and you have no life, or the life you have is deceiving you.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
