Prov. 10:2-3

Lesson # Prov. 10:2-3
Study Material - Prov. 10:2-3

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Prov. 10:2-3

2 Ill-gotten gains do not profit, But righteousness delivers from death. 3 The LORD will not allow the righteous to hunger, But He will thrust aside the craving of the wicked.

Ill gotten gains take on a couple of meanings. The first is gain acquired by means of legitimate methods - labor, business, inheritance, gift, etc. The second method of ill gotten gain is by means of illegitimate methods - fraud, deceit, cheating, crime in general.

There is a third connotation and that is any gain achieved by methods apart from the influence of Bible doctrine or non-spiritual gains.

Righteousness delivers from death. So the contrast here is in the expectations of ones work verses Gods work. Gods work was accomplished on the Cross. We have but to believe in Him (Jesus Christ) and we receive the greatest profit of any type - salvation and therefore eternal life.

Anything on earth, any life style that you could possibly choose, any hobby, any course of interest, any vocation, legitimate or not, anything else will not give you happiness. Will not give you comfort. Will not give you satisfaction of any kind in life. Any temporary happiness you might think you have (a good time at a party, contentment while painting or doing some hobby, contentment while humming in some religious exercise, none of these will provide you with that which you think you are achieving - true happiness, true contentment and so forth. These are false sensations, temporary and will go away.

Only Bible doctrine in the soul gives you capacity for life. Spiritual growth moves you forward in your life and that capacity which grows up in you will eventually give you the appreciation and capacity to deal with everything you encounter in life (good and bad).

Life on earth is life in a jungle setting. Alone in the jungle you are exposed to all manner of dangers. The jungle will aid the strong and destroy the weak.. We face social problems, employment problems, business problems, medical problems, family problems, mental stresses related to all these, and the list continues. Any of these can make your life miserable.

In doctrine God never leaves you out there hanging. With spiritual growth and your fellowship status, God has provided you with all manner of protections. For every event in your life, for every encounter, God has made provision for your life. If you find yourself in a fix, then there is a way out of it.

He (God) will never suffer the righteous (believers in fellowship advancing toward spiritual maturity) to be moved.

No matter what your status in life, whether you've inherited wealth, or you are on the steps of poverty or anywhere in between, then if you are advancing to spiritual maturity, if you are in fellowship, if you are positive toward Gods Word and really want, really desire to learn and grow up spiritually, then God will be faithful to you, and your life will indeed change.

If however you look at this Christian stuff as some sort of ticket to a quick fix for your current problems, then back to the same old sixes and sevens, then you are fooling yourself, and misery is just around the corner. You'll probably be hammered in life whether by business, or bad marriage, or unemployment, or something that will get your attention in order to demonstrate to you that you are not really in control over your life. Only a fool would think that.

Can you control the weather? No. Can you control the economy? No. Can you control what others will think or do? No. When it comes right down to it, you can only control your own thoughts, but only to the extent that the content of your soul has influence over what you think. If you have doctrine in your soul, then you have a head start of clear thinking and good thoughts and decisions. If you lack Bible doctrine in the soul, then your thoughts are influenced by false concepts and your clarity of thought is clouded and defective. You'll make wrong decisions and take wrong actions in life.

Any craving that the negative person has will never be satisfied. It is a path headed over a cliff with a very hard and painful awakening at the bottom.

The positive believer in Christ, on the other hand, will never lack, will never fail in the totality of his life. Of course we all screw up in life. But God makes things come out right in the end. So our life becomes an adventure with a certain end always in sight. In the opposite corner the negative person has certain misery and everything in life is uncertain, therefore insecure.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
