Prov. 11:3-4

Lesson # Prov. 11:3-4
Study Material - Prov. 11:3-4

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Prov. 11:3-4

3 The integrity [tummah] of the upright [yashar] shall guide [nachah] them: but the perverseness [celeph] of transgressors [bagad] shall destroy [shadad] [shadad] them.
4 Riches [hown] profit [yaal] not in the day [yowm] of wrath [ebrah] : but righteousness [tsadaqah] delivereth [natsal] from death [maveth] . KJV-Interlinear

Prov. 11:3-4

3 The integrity of the upright will guide them, But the falseness of the treacherous will destroy them. 4 Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, But righteousness delivers from death. NAS

Integrity and falseness are contrasted. What are they? Integrity is the state of moral wholeness, the state of being without blemish. Falseness is the state of perversion, to subvert, to overthrow and to take that which it is not entitled.

Riches and righteousness are also compared. Wherein the first two (integrity and falseness) are opposites, these two are now in parallel. They are similar in that the world provides prosperity to a point. That which we can possess, hold, enjoy within the confines of this world - money, property, etc. Righteousness is the state of sinless perfection which carries with it a prosperity with intrinsic value. That is a value which goes on forever and will never change no matter what the condition of the one holding it might be.

Gold for example has the same value whether it is in a ring or in the mud. That is value of an intrinsic nature. A loaf of bread has value which diminishes. Time makes the bread grow stale. Day old bread has less value than fresh bread just made. Bread just consumed and now within the body has no value. You cannot return the loaf or even sell it if you have already eaten it.

I know these are pretty simple concepts, but people are really stupid in this world. It takes the very simple to get their attention. Take evolution for example. There are many people who believe in it. But if you look at a little mound of mud, add a little water and salt perhaps, bow down to it, pray to it, plead with it. Do you really expect that by some accident it will rise up to life and produce a beautiful swan, or woman, or man, or insect, complete with all their DNA components, eyesight, eye color, liver, kidneys, heart, blood systems, nerve systems, and so forth?

Ever wonder just why the components of life are so complicated? From the cell structure to the DNA, to the many body organs, to the brain patterns, and various IQ's, and on, and on, and on? Could you watch a volcano explode and expect that all, that went into the air, would fall back to earth forming a tall sky scrapper, complete and ready to occupy? Of course not. All these required a designer, a plan, and then a contractor to build them. God made the complicated to convey the simple idea. He is the designer. These are not accidents of nature.

Can the mighty mound of murky mud spring to life from within itself? No. Can an unrighteous person spring perfection from within themselves? No. These all require outside help. And that help is of course God, through Jesus Christ.

Where do we find this moral wholeness? From the only source of moral wholeness - Bible doctrine. Where do we obtain this righteousness? From the only source of perfect righteousness - God. We cannot erase the blemishes of sin and death from ourselves. Only God can do that. The world presents a false philosophy which distorts the truth and attempts to deceive a lot of people, and it does deceive many. The world attempts to overthrow the truth of God and replace it with mans opinions of life. Mans opinions are always looking for the shortcut, for the loop hole, for the compromise into which he can incorporate his little personal desires and conveniences into a redefined spiritual life, and therefore have both worlds.

Can't be done.

The false portions will do what? 'Destroy them.'

Riches in this world are anything perceived as having some form of value to a person. This can be money, it can be having friends or relationships. But anything in life which excludes God will result in loss when Gods day of judgment comes. When is that? For the individual it is the moment of ones death. It all ends for you. In history there are a number of finalities. The next one will be the rapture, then the second advent, then the end of the Millennium, then the Great White Throne.

There is only one thing that will deliver us from sin and death's clutches, and that is Gods righteousness. How do we obtain it? By means of faith - believing in Jesus Christ. 'Abraham believed and righteousness was credited to him.'

When we believe in Christ (the promised Messiah, the Son of God, from Abraham's historical perspective), then God credits us with His perfect righteousness. That is the mechanism, in a technical sense, of our salvation. Without it we have nothing. We also receive a human spirit and have eternal life imputed into it, but that subject is not in view here.

What is in view is the comparison of the riches of this world, and the riches we obtain from God. If you reject God from your life then no matter how successful in this world, you will have nothing. You will die and at death you lose all you had in life. A big waste of life. If you include God in your life, in the proper way, then no matter how little you have in life will make no difference. Life's riches are irrelevant in salvation. Salvation is equally available to all - rich or poor. The only requirement - 'Believe in Christ.'

Integrity is the application of Bible doctrine to ones daily life so that the false of life will not mislead you. Righteousness is the recognition that God and God alone has the access point and the means of guiding us through this life and into the next.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
