Prov. 11:12-13

Lesson # Prov. 11:12-13
Study Material - Prov. 11:12-13

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Prov. 11:12-13

12 He that is void [chacer] of wisdom [leb] despiseth [buwz] his neighbour [rea] : but a man [iysh] of understanding [tabuwn] holdeth his peace [charash] .
13 A talebearer [halak] [rakiyl] revealeth [galah] secrets [cowd] : but he that is of a faithful [aman] spirit [ruwach] concealeth [kacah] the matter [dabar] . KJV-Interlinear

Prov. 11:12-13

12 He who despises his neighbor lacks sense, But a man of understanding keeps silent. 13 He who goes about as a talebearer reveals secrets, But he who is trustworthy conceals a matter. NAS

A person who lacks Bible doctrine in the soul, is a person whose soul contains the wisdom of this world alone. We should realize that there are two types of wisdom and there are two strengths associated with those wisdom categories.

First there is the wisdom of this world. We have generally called it academic wisdom. Whether your knowledge is in rocket science, driving an earth mover, or raising children, your knowledge is of the academic category. This includes book learning, practical experience (on the job), or just learning the street savvy in your life (the school of hard knocks). Whatever the source, this information contained within your soul is of this world. Its power is in its ability to orient you to your environment. But worldly wisdom is limited in its insight and therefore in its strength. Its foundation is little more than sand and that is like having no foundation at all.

The world has limitations in providing a sense of security, or fulfillment, or accomplishment, or happiness. Simply because there are limits, severe limits in this world, within which any given person must function. We had no control over the circumstances of our birth. We will have no control over the circumstances of our death. We cannot control the customers which come to our business. We cannot control our own employment for others. The world is constantly filled with uncertainty in the weather and in national economies.

The person who lacks true wisdom, Bible doctrine, in the soul has severe limits on his thinking ability. Without a foundation in the soul which provides true muscle in the soul, then the soul is weak. As the soul grows weaker with continued life, then it begins to form scar tissue over its self (hardness of heart - which we have studied before). The soul must breath in order to survive, and a soul which is in the process of being calloused over loses its ability to breath. The more callous the greater the darkness of the soul exists. A person loses perspective and that person eventually loses his sense of moral conduct.

This person is in view in our verse here. He despises others. He is negative in life. He is bitter. He is a complainer. Nothing is good enough for him.. He is selfish and certainly self centered. Sooner or later the soul simply blacks out and death or severe misery occurs for this person. Note our study of Pharaoh.

On the other hand, the person who has wisdom in his soul, has a healthy breathing soul. His muscle strength of soul is strong. He is poised, unselfish, and does not react to problems in life with great emotions or with a lack of self control. He thinks on his feet and keeps moving in life.

The two types of wisdom (Gods and the worlds), both provide information. The worlds wisdom is an environmental wisdom and has many limits. Gods wisdom is a spiritual wisdom, and a supernatural wisdom. It not only supplies you with information, but more importantly, Gods wisdom and the wisdom process (fellowship, learning, application, etc.) provides spiritual strength, spiritual security, spiritual awareness, and many, many more things in the spiritual life.

You will not know any more than the next person with regard to the stock markets direction. You will not know any more than the next person with regard to rocket science, but when God is in the drivers seat of your life, then you will always be in the right place at the right time. Or better said, you will always be where God wants you to be at any given moment in time.

You, yourself have no clue as to what will occur in the world or in your life tomorrow. Of course you have general ideas because of the repetitiveness of your daily life. But as to specifics? You will not know when God will bring things together for you, for His intended purpose of your life.

Now this is a much better place to be in, in life. You have the ability to combine your human knowledge (whatever it is you know or do in life) with Gods omniscience. You have done your part in life - you have done the best you can do with whatever you have, and now God will bring other factors into your life which will allow you to use your talents to their maximum (and to Gods glorification). This provides you with ideas, innovation, with various forms of victories which you otherwise would never have obtained in life on your own.

Example - David was a shepherd. He spent days, weeks, months, years out in the pastures with his sheep. He had a sling shot. He practiced it daily. He hurled thousands and thousands of rocks at trees, boulders, passing coyotes, and so forth. He got pretty good - an expert shot. David also studied his scriptures, and through those he had true courage. He feared nothing. He had his tests with the lion and with various wild predators. Now combine those characteristics in his life and bring him face to face with Goliath. David had courage, he was an expert shot, he had confidence in his ability to hit his target. Goliath did not have a chance.

Your life and mine probably will not be so dramatic, but God will train you in your daily routine. God will train you in His Word. The two combined will produce inside of you confidence, spiritual strength, and courage, true courage. You will be able to face anything in life, knowing that Gods Will, will be accomplished. You and I are mere instruments.

He who lacks spiritual wisdom has no spiritual assets and therefore will despise others. To despise, to be jealous, to be bitter, and that is the nature of the beast. He lacks the ability to hold secrets (his personal opinion). He will rather be opinionated in his antagonism in life.

The wise person has unlimited spiritual asset potential. He is able to hold his tongue. He is able to restrain himself from retaliation or otherwise reacting in a negative manner to negative situations.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
