Prov. 11:18

Lesson # Prov. 11:18
Study Material - Prov. 11:18

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Prov. 11:18

18 The wicked [rasha] worketh [asah] a deceitful [sheqer] work [paullah] : but to him that soweth [zara] righteousness [tsadaqah] shall be a sure [emeth] reward [seker] . KJV-Interlinear

Prov. 11:18

18 The wicked earns deceptive wages, But he who sows righteousness gets a true reward. NAS

The wicked is anyone who is out of fellowship or anyone who is unsaved. This includes believers who are generally negative, indifferent, or who just play games with their spiritual life, and obviously unbelievers are included.

Righteousness is Gods righteousness. That is His state of sinless perfection, without flaw, without blemish, without any defect whatsoever. Absolute perfection.

In life we all pursue knowledge in some form or another. Whether it is just absorbing what we see on the TV, from the radio, or in the publications we read, we are assimilating information of some type, in some manner. I presume that no one out there lives their life sleeping 24 hours a day, unless you are in a coma of course. So you do get information into your soul and you process it to some extent.

There are but two opinions in this universe. Gods opinion and everything else. We have heard this before, but then a little repetition can't hurt.

Gods Word in the sum total of His opinion for us in this life, and all we need in order to defeat sin and death and an otherwise miserable life. Imagine that!

All we need are the words contained within the front and back covers of the Bible, in order to have the greatest life possible, both in time and in eternity. You should commit the previous sentence to memory. Print it out an put it up on the refrigerator.

Now there is the second opinion - everything else in life. 'Got to work hard and hustle through life in order to get ahead.' 'Got to set back and do nothing in life because working hard gets you nothing anyway.' For every opinion in life there is a counter opinion which will have just as many followers.

Following what you hear and see from this world, that which excludes Gods Word, is a path to ruin. The payoff, the benefit of what you get from whatever you do or accomplish is a lie. Deceptive here refers to that which is a lie, that which is a sham, that which is untrue, that which is without cause.

So we get up in the morning, go to work, hustle or not, come home and set back in our favorite chair or bed, in front of the TV. What have we gained? We do this day after day, year after year. Pretty soon we are old and where have all those years gone? What have we really gained?

When we finally wake up and realize that we haven't advanced in life even one step, that all we have done was to go backward, then we might realize that our life has been a total waste of time. Why? Because our life, the vast majority of it, will be lived in eternity, and not here on this earth, and certainly not in this physical body.

We have many chances to advance in our spiritual life. Doesn't even take much to do it. Gods Word is all we need. No special education. No analytical insight. No artistic talent. No athletic ability. Nothing extraordinary is needed in order to believe in Christ (for unbelievers), and to learn Bible doctrine (for believers).

If we have eyes and ears then we can read Gods Word or we can hear it. Even braille is available to learn Bible doctrine.

Everything done in life, apart from Gods Word, that is to say, everything you do in life out of fellowship, then is a lie and a fraud. You are wasting your time. Might as well go back to bed. On the other hand, if you are alive and breathing, then you have an opportunity to advance in your spiritual life by just getting with a study program, but more than that, you have to use what you learn, in your daily life. Actually that is the easy part.

The really tough part of spiritual growth is when you are faced with choosing between Gods principles in life verses those things to which you have become accustomed. And that is merely a matter of choice. Insecurity is your enemy here because it makes you lean for that which is easier - the, not making any change in your life, decision. But, and there is always a but ... If you stick with your Bible study, then your sense of security will grow, your confidence will grow, and your courage will increase. You will be able to meet the lions den head on, and without batting an eye. Hummm! Wouldn't that be interesting.

Now go look in that mirror and make a sneer that would send terror into the lions of the den. Ok, maybe you can work on that one.

prayer wall
Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
