Lesson # Prov. 12:6-9 Study Material - Prov. 12:6-9 You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth. Proverbs 12:6-9 6 The words [dabar] of the wicked [rasha] are to lie in wait [arab] for blood [dam] : but the mouth [peh] of the upright [yashar] shall deliver [natsal] them. 7 The wicked [rasha] are overthrown [haphak] , and are not: but the house [bayith] of the righteous [tsaddiyq] shall stand [amad] . 8 A man [iysh] shall be commended [halal] according [peh] to his wisdom [sekel] : but he that is of a perverse [avah] heart [leb] shall be despised [buwz] . 9 He that is despised [qalah] , and hath a servant [ebed] , is better [towb] than he that honoureth [kabad] himself, and lacketh [chacer] bread [lechem] . KJV-Interlinear 6 The words of the wicked lie in wait for blood, But the mouth of the upright will deliver them. 7 The wicked are overthrown and are no more, But the house of the righteous will stand. 8 A man will be praised according to his insight, But one of perverse mind will be despised. 9 Better is he who is lightly esteemed and has a servant, Than he who honors himself and lacks bread. NASB A little note regarding yesterdays study. I stated that in heaven there will be neither male nor female, neither Jew nor Gentile, and I might add here in order to clarify the male - female part, there will be neither marriage nor giving in marriage, which simply means that the biological function of male - female, of having children and so forth, will cease when human history ends at the end of the Millennium. You will still look and be the way you are, but with an overhaul of many improvements when you receive your resurrection body. Any flaws, any defects, any handicaps, and so forth that you have now, will all be gone. You will be a perfect ten, if you will, and dressed to the nines, and you'll have a lot, lot more of the improvements that come with that future body which you will receive at the Rapture. In the current passage, the person who perpetuates negative thinking in his life, perpetuates nothing more than a lie in his life. Rejecting the truth of Gods Word, means that by default you embrace the lie. When you embrace the lie in your life, then that is the pattern of your thinking. You promote whatever it is that you think. By promoting the lie, then you are not only condemning yourself to destruction, but you are trying to convince others of your opinion and therefore condemning them to destruction as well. The lie leads to the shedding of blood, which is nothing more than leading self or anyone to ultimate destruction for the result of their life. The mouth of the upright expresses the content of the soul. You cannot speak that which you do not know. A believer who is positive toward God and advancing in their spiritual life, knows and utilizes doctrine in their daily life. Use of Gods wisdom in ones life is the witness of the status of ones successful spiritual status. Your words do not deliver, but the foundation of doctrine behind them does. The gospel serves to identify you as saved. The content of doctrine in the soul serves to identify you as an advancing believer. Advancing to spiritual maturity, that is. The wicked, who is anyone who rejects God, rejects doctrine, whether by indifference, apathy, compromise, or defiance, has but one destiny. And that is their own destruction in this life. If they are an unbeliever then they will lose everything forever. If they are a believer, then they will lose the very basis for their opinion, when they die, but their real loss will be from not having a successful life now, and losing out on tremendous blessings in eternity. Esau traded his eternal future for a meal, and that is in effect what anyone does, who embraces their own opinions of this life and rejecting the will of Gods wisdom. They are trading for the pleasures of this life and the right to be stubborn in their wrong beliefs, giving up the blessings in the next life, which blessings are infinitely more valuable than anything that exists in this world. Suppose you had a winning lottery ticket which was the winner of a jack pot prize worth billions. Would you trade the ticket away for a sandwich? And yet most people in history do just that by ignoring the Word of God in their life. Look in the mirror each day and ask yourself, 'What future blessing am I going to trade away today?' By wanting your own way of thinking more than learning Gods way, does just that. A perverse mind is one which relies on the world for its nourishment. No doctrine, no spiritual assets to speak of. God is just not important enough. The spiritual life is not considered to be of much value. And in the end, the evaluation gets you nothing from God but rejection. So many people struggle in this life to gain advantage for themselves by attending the right school, knowing the right people, living in the right neighborhoods, wearing the right clothes, and so on. But God is right there and who more than God, is able to do more for you? No one. No situation, no acquaintance, nothing and no one in this life can do more for you than God. Why would anyone trade away the best connection that anyone could have in a thousand lives? And yet people do it all of the time. If you are not convinced that your spiritual life is more important to you than anything in life, then you are under threat of losing out big time in life, both now and in eternity. If you think that you have found the answer to all that you need, and that something, excludes God, or includes several 'important' modifications to Gods principles which you have invented yourself or have simply come to believe, then you are still falling in the fog, from that airplane we studied the other day. One day you will see the ground rising very fast, up to meet you. And then it will be too late. Honoring self is exactly what one does when Gods word is excluded from their life. There are but two opinions in this world - Gods, and everything else. If you reject God, then you embrace the other. If you modify Gods, then you embrace the other. If you compromise Gods opinion, then you justify the other. Anyway you look at it, you see your opinion as better for you, than Gods. Bible doctrine is the bread of life. It is the food which nourishes the soul. Dining with the world means that you are eating air, and nothing more. Try eating only air for a week and see how your health does. Try it for a life time and see just how long you don't live. People eat nothing for a lifetime and they do not know that they are starving. He who has doctrine in his soul, is established in life, he has insight or wisdom in order to discern the truth from the lie, and even more important he has a servant. And that simply means that he has a means of serving himself - bible doctrine. Gods Word ministers to each individual as no servant or faithful slave can. It provides all that one could possibly want or need in life, because it is the means of success in this life and in the next. And not only success, but fabulous success, far beyond what your imagination can produce.
