Prov. 12:16-18

Lesson # Prov. 12:16-18
Study Material - Prov. 12:16-18

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Proverbs 12:16-18

16 A fool's [eviyl] wrath [ka`ac] is presently [yowm] known [yada] : but a prudent [aruwm] man covereth [kacah] shame [qalown] .
17 He that speaketh [puwach] truth [emuwnah] sheweth forth [nagad] righteousness [tsedeq] : but a false [sheqer] witness [ed] deceit [mirmah] .
18 There is [yesh] that speaketh [bata] like the piercings [madqarah] of a sword [chereb] : but the tongue [lashown] of the wise [chakam] is health [marpe] . KJV-Interlinear

16 A fool's vexation is known at once, But a prudent man conceals dishonor. 17 He who speaks truth tells what is right, But a false witness, deceit. 18 There is one who speaks rashly like the thrusts of a sword, But the tongue of the wise brings healing. NASB

The word for fool, 'eviyl' means hardened, thickheaded, stubborn. This person is one who would throw away something of tremendous value (his spiritual life), in exchange for something of no value (every detail of life imaginable).

Being a fool is the result of indifference or having a negative attitude toward God and His Word. Bible doctrine gives one discernment and capacity for life. It also allows a person to mature, and as such, not get upset over little things in life.

The fool, lacks doctrine in the soul, therefore his soul is shallow, and he 'vexes.' He gets upset over even the smallest of things. The fool is ruled by mediocrity. He will let important things go in his own life and then he will micro manage the lives or policies of others. Politicians are like this. The fool spends an inordinate amount of time on the smallest of things. Things which are unimportant.

Negative people get upset easily. They lose their tempers easily. They are shallow and thin skinned and therefore are insulted easily. You would find these kinds of people falling all over someone who was not politically correct. They will try to please everyone by changing the principles they live by, to fit the current situation. Whatever that situation might be. They lack principles. They lack substance in their life.

The positive and growing believer, will do the opposite. When an insult comes along, he will ignore it and move on with life. The positive believer will not make a big deal out of the small things. He will 'conceal dishonor' as it were. The principle of , 'sticks and stones,' applies. Life is too short to get all upset over 'nothing' things.

The positive believer knows how to distinguish between that which is insignificant, and that which is important in life.

The positive believer speaks the truth. His soul is influenced by doctrine and therefore the pattern of his words are founded in truth. The negative believer on the other hand, lacks significant doctrine in the soul, and is influenced by the words of the world. His words are by default, lies, regardless of what he says.

The negative person does not support the teaching of the Word of God. He does not pursue knowledge in the scriptures for himself. They do not promote truth through either word of deed. Their life is a lie, and that is as good as they will ever get.

The negative person is anyone who has not believed in Christ. The negative person, may even be a believer in Christ but just does not believe, nor feel that the scriptures are that important as to require their daily attention in life. They believe that they know whatever they need to know, and they will get along fine with their current beliefs. Nothing more is necessary from them. Thus the label, 'fool' applies to them.

The negative person will speak without thought. They will inflict wounds with their words without considering the feelings of their intended victim, or anyone else who is within hearing distance. They are rude, annoying, brash, inconsiderate, opinionated, and are more interested in making sure that others hear their words. The content is irrelevant.

The negative person tries to advance themselves at the expense of others. They care for self more than they do anyone else. They will inflict pain, either physical or mental, if it will advance themselves.

The positive believer will hold his tongue, and withhold verbal injury. Inflicting verbal injury in a social or family setting is unnecessary. God promotes the prepared believer. The believer need do nothing more in life, than to be prepared in a responsible way. In the spiritual sense, the believer studies and learns and is obedient to the Word of God, and thus advances in his spiritual life. This foundation of doctrine overflows seamlessly into his daily life of responsibility and so forth.

The positive believer does not have to justify himself, nor speak out in criticism against another. God will take care of all the discipline in His own good time.

Positive reinforcement is always better than the negative where it comes to normal human interaction.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
