Proverbs 13:6

6 Righteousness [tsadaqah] keepeth [natsar] him that is upright [tom] in the way [derek]: but wickedness [rish`ah] overthroweth [calaph] the sinner [chatta'ah]. KJV-Interlinear

6 Righteousness guards the one whose way is blameless, But wickedness subverts the sinner. NASB

There are two opinions in this universe. God has the opinion of truth, and Satan is the source of the opinion of anti-truth. All other opinions in the world are based on the disinformation which originates from Satan.

Though we do not speak directly with Satan, nor get our human ideas from him, then just as in the Garden, Eve was fooled indirectly through the serpent, by Satan, so too, mankind throughout the ages has received the sowing of ideas from Satan through various means - charms, astrology, mediums, liberal thought and so on and so forth.

Were it not for the standard of truth from God, we as the human race would not know our right from our left.

Righteousness is the truth of reality, undistorted, unblemished, unperverted, unbiased, and so forth. Truth is where facts meet reality in a perfect match.

Wickedness on the other hand, is the opposite. It is the perversion of truth, the distortion, the bias, the favoritism, the prejudice, the insecurities, the compromising attitude, even the indifference of life. When placed under the microscope of analysis, the facts of wickedness do not match up with reality. Everything is skewed, sometimes deceptively, sometimes obviously, and out of sync.

The individual has two coats which he can wear when going out into the storm of life. Righteousness is the coat of doctrine and the spiritual life, or your spiritual armor if you will. With it you have protection against the onslaught of the storms of life. It preserves you in the midst of the jungle of life.

Life will swirl around you. That is inevitable. But with the armor of Gods word, then the world can do nothing to your life. It can neither take you out of Gods hands, nor prevent your spiritual advancement.

Righteousness (Gods word) protects you when you put it on. When the storm is raging outside, you put on a coat to protect yourself from the rain and wind. Righteousness is your spiritual coat. But note that you have to put it on by virtue of your daily commitment to study and learn, and be obedient to God.

On the other hand, if you choose to not wear the coat of righteousness then you are in effect going out into the storm (of life) without any protection. Wickedness will pound you ceaselessly. Wickedness will ruin your life. But then, you are going outside knowing full well that there is a storm raging. So whose fault is that?

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
