Proverbs 14:12-13

12 There is [yesh] a way [derek] which seemeth right [yashar] unto [paniym] a man [iysh], but the end [achariyth] thereof are the ways [derek] of death [maveth].
13 Even in laughter [sachowq] the heart [leb] is sorrowful [ka'ab]; and the end [achariyth] of that mirth [simchah] is heaviness [tuwgah]. KJV-Interlinear

12 There is a way which seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death. 13 Even in laughter the heart may be in pain, And the end of joy may be grief. NASB

There are only two opinions in this universe. Gods is the true and only accurate opinion with regard to life and reality. All other opinions are false and even though they might incorporate some degree of truth in them, any opinion which has even a bit of lie within it, is still a lie by deceit.

The opinion set to which you focus your life, will seem the best and the truth to you. If you live by something all of your life, then that belief to you is true. And, after you have believed something for a long time (years), then it is very difficult to make the change in your life to another belief, when you are eventually confronted by a truth which contradicts your long established original belief.

Sometimes other factors enter into your belief and resistance to change.

A good example of this could be the folks who live together. Perhaps one is a little insecure and even though that person knows that marriage is better and right, they will continue living with their partner because leaving is too great a risk or too much of a change in their own mind and their sense of security tells them to stay right where they are. They will not make an issue of marriage in order to avoid arguments and so forth.

Another example of a long established belief is when one smokes cigarettes. Knowledge of it health risks is and has been available but many choose to ignore that truth because of their addiction to the nicotine and to the habit. It is much easier to continue smoking than it is to quit.

Some folks are brought up with the idea that you can pray to angels. Not so. All prayer is directed to God the Father, but try to convince them of it. Some folks might not believe in eating beef, or some might not believe in dancing, or some might not believe in automobiles, or electricity, or singing. Some might believe that you have to follow a certain ritual (usually from some church policy) in order to have a Godly life. And of course there are those who do not believe in a daily Bible study. After all, when a person studies for a week or two and nothing seems to happen in their life, then what's the use? Right? Where's the genie? Why aren't the prayers being granted?

You can probably come up with lots of examples of preconceived ideas which when confronted by a truth, are difficult to change away from. But, if you are truly interested in learning what God has to teach, then patience and continued consistent study will clarify any uncertainties that you might have in life. Though you might be uncomfortable with the idea of changing your beliefs at first, in time, you will become convinced and you will become comfortable and confident with the truths which the Bible teaches.

It is those people who defiantly stick with their own beliefs, even in the face of clear contradictions from the Bible, that will have the most difficulty in life.

Passion, self will, bias, insecurities, and such attitudes often blind a person into thinking that their own ways and desires are the best and most desirable. Any mind which pursues error in life is perverted and inevitably an uninstructed soul. The only escape from following and being absorbed by the lies of life comes from the clear and informed instruction provided by Gods Word. The person who pursues a false light, is led astray, and will go headlong toward destruction.

The result of ignoring truth and of ignoring changing to truth from false preconceived ideas, is disillusionment, grief, and disappointment and ultimately anger and frustration.

Anyone who lives in the jungle of this world, anyone who lives in the temporal sphere of this world may have moments of happiness as with the enjoyment of some sensual response to an event or situation like a relationship with someone, or in hearing pleasing music, or in being inspired by a view, or eating good food, or hearing a good joke and so forth. But these moments of happiness are not permanent and will never replace the flawed state of the soul which lacks spiritual resources.

Their end as with all ends in a spiritually deficient life, will be pain, misery, suffering, and loss in life. The world offers a false sense of happiness. Don't mistake happy times in life per se, happy times which exclude God and the spiritual life, for a proper and successful approach to life.

Just as false beliefs which may be held for decades and can be misconstrued for truth, so too, false happiness can be misconstrued for following the right course in life. Watching a beautiful sunset or hearing pleasant music do not mean that your life is complete and fulfilled.

Only the person who is advancing in their spiritual life will have fulfillment in the long run. People who ignore their spiritual life may have temporary good times in this life only to discover that they did not prepare them for the next life. Unbelievers will certainly feel the greatest loss when they get thrown into the Lake of Fire. Believers who have been negative throughout their life will discover loss of those extra blessings that are reserved only for mature believers.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
