Psalm 20:4

4 Grant [nathan] thee according to thine own heart, [lebab] and fulfil [male'] all thy counsel. [`etsah] KJV-Interlinear

4 May He grant you your heart's desire, And fulfill all your counsel!  NASB

Thus far in this psalm, we have looked at the promises of God for each individual while we are in the days of our trouble.

We live in this world and since this is the devils world, all of our days are technically enveloped in trouble. From the moment of your birth to the moment of your death, you are living in a hostile environment, designed by Satan, determined to lead you to ruin.

The world will give you too much so that you will not need truth. The world will make your life miserable so that you will live in complaints and blame.

This prayer is addressed to the God of Jacob, thus distinguishing the line of the Messiah, namely Jesus Christ, from all other gods. Christ is the one true God, all others are false.

God sends us help from within the sanctuary of fellowship, wherein our spiritual life functions.

God strengthens us through doctrine, the mountain of truth and power, often times called or illustrated by the term, Zion.

God recognizes our correct worship, namely our daily study and all that we learn, think and do, within the scope of Bible doctrine, recognizing that it is the work of Christ and not our work, that gains credit lest our arrogance overtake our views in life.

And, now in our current verse, the thoughts of our soul should be correlated with Gods thoughts, namely Bible doctrine. If our thoughts are of a sinful nature, then we would be out of sync with God.

Our counsel likewise, needs to be in line with truth and the counsel of God, and not of our own choosing or convenience.

Therefore, God grants us all that is in accordance with our desires and fulfills all of our plans that are in accordance with truth.

God has a plan for your life. God has a plan for all of human history. God has a plan for all of history.

His plan over rides all things of individual purpose, but simultaneously incorporates them into His plan with perfect precision.

In eternity past, God looked forward through the tunnel of time, and saw all of the possible options for each and every individual who would ever live. He selected the one plan that gives everyone the very best opportunity for their life and future.

And so you were placed in history at the perfect moment in time such that you would grow up and be led by either God or your environment depending on the choices you make in your life. Good choices maximize your opportunities. Bad choices reduce your opportunities.

What you learn and retain in your soul, drives your desires and plans.

If you learn worldly lusts and selfishness, then your thoughts are of a sinful and self-centered nature.

If you learn doctrine, then your thoughts and intents are more compatible with Gods will.

And God backs up and supports divine viewpoint, never evil purposes.

Sometimes sorting out your thoughts and intentions gets mixed up within your own head. Self-righteousness can cut you off just as easily as the many lusts and desires that will cross your path in life.

And the only way to keep it all in line, is through a daily study of the scriptures, but not from your own effort, you must learn through instruction until you have grown up sufficiently to be able to discern truth from fiction.

And most folks can live to be a hundred and never get it, simply because they presume too much by overrating themselves. They live their life picking and choosing and abiding only by what they choose to believe and follow, rather than humbling themselves to truth and subordinating themselves to the authority of doctrine.

Most folks do not like their place in life, and that is a subtle resentment of what God has done for you. And all the while, while you have been dissatisfied with life, it has been your own fault for not learning truth, for not complying with Gods mandates, for not stepping back and looking at yourself objectively, for refusing to recognize the opportunities that God has given you, and thus never making the most of them.

People often quote scripture believing that the simple quote will somehow become a genie for their wants in life. However, God blesses the foundation of doctrine that resides in your soul, not the empty whims of your wishes.

Learn nothing, have nothing.

Learn doctrine and build up the solid structure and capacity for receiving everything.

A warehouse that is never built cannot store the harvest. The warehouse has to be built before it can be filled with production.

It is the same with your life. God gives us so many simply illustrations. Why are so many people never able to figure it out?
