Zech. 13:2

2 And it shall come to pass in that day [yowm], saith [na'um] the LORD [Yahovah] of hosts [tsaba'], that I will cut off [karath] the names [shem] of the idols [`atsab] out of the land ['erets], and they shall no more be remembered [zakar]: and also I will cause the prophets [nabiy'] and the unclean [tum'ah] spirit [ruwach] to pass [`abar] out of the land ['erets]. 2 And it will come about in that day, declares the LORD of hosts, that I will cut off the names of the idols from the land, and they will no longer be remembered; and I will also remove the prophets and the unclean spirit from the land. NASB

Today we have all sorts of idols and philosophies floating about in the world, as distractions, keeping people away from Gods Word.

Idols are not limited to, little fat man rock or wooden statues. An idol is anything on which you can focus your attention. An idol is anything toward which you give approval, respect, or admiration.

You can bow down to wooden statues certainly, but many folks bow down to their social life, their hobbies, and their standards of living, or their life style, which they have adopted for themselves. Idols can be celebrities or famous people, who you want to emulate, are devoted to, loyal to, affectionate toward, and so forth.

False prophets include any, and all, people who promote the philosophies of this world. And, the unclean spirits is a reference to the communication of those false philosophies.

So what are the false philosophies of the world? Well, any set of facts, which do not match up with reality.

For example, math is a truth. We can add two plus two and get four. If you change to a different number base, then your answer may change accordingly, but it has to be consistent with that number base. Again, for example, in a binary numbering system, the numbers are just 1 s and 0 s. There is no number character 2 or number character 4 per se. But you can get to those values by using combination of 1 s and 0 s, i.e. 1 0, (one, zero), or 1 0 0, (one, zero, zero). We use base ten as our most common numbering system so we ll stick to that.

If someone comes along and tries to convince you that two plus two is three, then that is a false philosophy.

God created truth. That includes the basic sciences like math, biology, physics and so forth. And, because these subjects are based in truth, then we are able to discover them, their components, and use imagination, discovery, and innovation to unlock many secrets about the universe around us, as well as inventing the many technological things that we have today.

God also invented the laws of establishment like volition, marriage, family, nationalism, law and order, freedom, liberty, responsibility and so forth, to help us function socially and economically in life. Anyone who tries to promote homosexuality for example, as a normal relationship, or crime as a person s right to take from others, is promoting a lie. Those are false philosophies.

Idols include false governmental concepts. Liberalism for example, is an attack against liberty. Communism is an attack against freedom. Socialism is an attack against individuality. All of these seek to shift responsibility and accountability to others rather than to self. And, the people who bow at these idols try to gain privilege for themselves while shifting the burdens of life, onto the ignorant and easily fooled, or poorly defended masses.

False idols and false philosophy concepts are so prevalent today, that they all seem normal and generally acceptable or approved by society, depending on what group you want to subscribe to. When man looks at life through man s eyes, everything becomes relative, and anything can be easily justified.

Therefore, religions and beliefs galore can pop up virtually anywhere, and a na ve people, people who do not have Bible doctrine in their souls, will flock to whatever happens to be the popular thought or fad of the day.

Far too many people do not look at life through Gods eyes. Those are the eyes of truth and reality, and the proper orientation to life.

But, there will come a time when God will wipe out all of the lies that lead to the false beliefs, and false conclusions, and false norms and standards of society. Only truth will be available.

And, those who seek to influence and deceive because of their own selfish interests, for all false beliefs are founded in some form of arrogance, will find themselves without an audience, for they will be dead and gone from this life.

That time will come, at the Second Advent.

For a thousand years following the Second Advent of Christ, people will then live in a perfect environment, under conditions of perfect prosperity, and yet, by the end of that time, many will still have rejected Christ.

When Satan is released from his thousand-year prison term, those people will flock to him for one final rebellion against Christ. That rebellion will be very short lived. Human history will then, finally come to a close.
