Zeph. 1:7

Lesson # Zeph. 1:7
Study Material - Zeph. 1:7

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Zeph. 1:7

7 Hold thy peace [hacah] at the presence [paniym] of the Lord [Adonay] GOD [Yahovah] : for the day [yowm] of the LORD [Yahovah] is at hand [qarowb] : for the LORD [Yahovah] hath prepared [kuwn] a sacrifice [zebach] , he hath bid [qadash] his guests [qara] . KJV-Interlinear

7 Be silent before the Lord GOD! For the day of the LORD is near, For the LORD has prepared a sacrifice, He has consecrated His guests. NASB

Silence is the only thing that needs to come from the ignorant. One who knows nothing, cannot contribute anything of value. Therefore they (the spiritually immature) need to remain silent. Mankind is the creature who can contribute nothing to life or truth. Mankind cannot invent truth. But unfortunately mankind has an endless trail of opinions which lead to nowhere.

1 Sam. 2:3
3 'Boast no more so very proudly, Do not let arrogance come out of your mouth; For the LORD is a God of knowledge, And with Him actions are weighed. NASB

Psa. 52:1
Why do you boast in evil, O mighty man? NASB

God will call us all to account one day. That day may be postponed, or it may come sooner than we are ready for it. But, God always gives us plenty of time to establish the pattern of our choice for life. If we choose to learn from God and thus grow up spiritually, then our accounting will be full of blessing - beyond imagination.

If we choose to ignore God and choose to drift off in the various directions which we studied yesterday - pursuits of lasciviousness, pursuits of asceticism, pursuits of indifference, then our accounting will be full of trouble and loss.

Likewise, even if we boast of faith, but we do not apply the principles of doctrine to our life, then our faith is dead with respect to earning any recognition by God in our future evaluation before the Judgment Seat of Christ.

James 2:26
26 For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead. NASB

James 4:16-17
16 But as it is, you boast in your arrogance; all such boasting is evil. 17 Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do, and does not do it, to him it is sin. NASB

Anyone who ignores Gods Word is guilty of boasting. Arrogance is a form of boasting wherein man rationalizes that he has something better than that which God has provided. You might want to print off a copy of the 'Human Carnal Nature' chart from the Index page on the web site, if you don't have a copy already. There you'll see the basic flaw patterns of mankind.

Thus the call of God, to be silent. Stop boasting. Stop doing that which you are doing in life which is contrary to what God wants you to do.

God is gracious and gives man (that's you and me) all the time in the world (with certain limits) to take the liberty of doing what he pleases, or to do that which pleases God. Remember that we all have three basic responsibilities/obligations in life - to God, to self, and to others. That is to listen to and learn doctrine, to grow up spiritually, to apply what we learn to our life, to promote and support the teaching of Gods Word, to help those who are less fortunate. God provides us with all the necessary resources with which to apply these principles to life. Quantity is not the issue, but your genuine desire is.

What is waiting out there? Gods feast. But this is no ordinary feast. Those who are guilty of spiritual failure are the foods to be served at the feast. Ever go to dinner in the jungle and inquire what the menu was - and the natives look at you and laugh because you are the main course? Well God is preparing a sacrifice and it won't be pretty for the invited guests. For the guests are to be served up in a sacrifice, 'zebach,', which means a massive and violent slaughter. This is the Day of the Lord and it will come with such violence as never before seen in history and never will be repeated again.

God is preparing this sacrifice through the passage of time in human history. People who are negative in the various forms of apostasy, are the sacrificial animals readying themselves for slaughter.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
