Zeph. 2:6-7

Lesson # Zeph. 2:6-7
Study Material - Zeph. 2:6-7

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Zeph. 2:6-7

6 And the sea [yam] coast [chebel] shall be dwellings [naveh] and cottages [karah] for shepherds [ra`ah] , and folds [gaderah] for flocks [tso'n] .
7 And the coast [chebel] shall be for the remnant [sha'eriyth] of the house [bayith] of Judah [Yahuwdah] ; they shall feed [ra`ah] thereupon: in the houses [bayith] of Ashkelon [Ashqalown] shall they lie down [rabats] in the evening [ereb] : for the LORD [Yahovah] their God [elohiym] shall visit [paqad] them, and turn away [shuwb] their captivity [shabuwth] [shabuwth] . KJV-Interlinear

6 So the seacoast will be pastures, With caves for shepherds and folds for flocks. 7 And the coast will be For the remnant of the house of Judah, They will pasture on it. In the houses of Ashkelon they will lie down at evening; For the LORD their God will care for them And restore their fortune. NASB

The overthrow of the surrounding nations is of a spiritual nature, and refers specifically to the Kingdom of Christ, which is future. The overthrow of evil applies to each of our lives in that anyone who sticks to their guns and perseveres in their Bible study throughout their life, will come out the victor in the angelic conflict, on the side of Christ.

All evil is ultimately going to be decimated, obliterated. The vast populations will be gone. The cities will be gone. The vast harbors will be gone. All industry will be gone. There will be nothing left but the fields and the grasses which will grow back relatively quickly, following the destruction of the Armageddon battles and of the Second Advent.

Worldwide, there will be nothing left from human history which could possibly be used to claim credit for getting mankind into the Millennium.

Ashkelon is used as the category for all, of those who could never get their values straight, for those who could never see the truth of life, for those who refuse to see the truth of life, for those who try to redefine the truth of life, for those who could care less for any of this Bible stuff.

Their end is certain, just as you can look around your own life and see cemeteries, and various things that serve to remind you that you have your limits. And beyond those limits, you have absolutely no control whatsoever.

Throughout life we will see reminders of our spiritual status as individuals, and as nations. We can see the warning signs which God gives to us all. Recently we had a national election (four years ago). It was close and the final determination was reluctantly accepted with much bitterness, resentment and criticism. But God places the right persons in power in order to accomplish His plan for human history.

The indication from that election was a nation which was dramatically split philosophically. That split continued until we received another wake up call on 9-11. Our wake up call was not who should have won that last election, but who should we be looking to - God. The election indicates a spiritual flaw within the nation. The attack indicates a lack of spiritual preparedness.

Two wars have come along and two nations have been freed from awful tyranny. The evil of terrorism has been counterattacked with results that can only benefit the human race. And yet, there are loud calls for not doing enough here or doing too much there - calls of criticism from those who seek power, but have not been given it.

Recall in our study of Daniel, that it is God who ultimately places all leaders in their seats of power. It is mankind who resents Gods decisions and attempts to circumvent history.

Yet another reminder comes along in the form of a movie - 'The Passion of the Christ.' And now we have the death of a former leader (President Reagan) who has been in the shadows for over a decade, but now is center stage in all the news media. His affliction is Alzheimer's disease, which is a suffering of memory loss and is an appropriate reminder that if we too lose our memory of the one true source of our life, then we too will face the ultimate final loss.

Nothing happens in history by accident. God could have taken President Reagan home long ago, or waited for another year. But He took him home now, right in the middle of a heated election campaign, right in the middle of a government transition in Iraq, right after the release of the movie, 'The Passion.' All these things did not happen simply by accident and in the order that they have occurred, and all in our current year.

Will the quibbling stop and will people finally wake up to their real responsibilities in life? Or, will the quibbling continue as people ignore all the warning signs? Joel used an invasion of locusts as his teaching example. We have other types of examples to use as teaching aids - our current history.

The objective is the same for both - to get people to turn their lives toward God and to a consistent daily Bible study, so that prosperity rather than despair will fill up our lives.

Continued rejection of God means problems for all, on the horizon. A change of attitude toward God, means prosperity for those who make the change. Our next national election is not until this coming November. It will be interesting to see just what warnings or reminders God has prepared for our generation, this Summer and Fall.

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
