Zeph. 2:10-11

Lesson # Zeph. 2:10-11
Study Material - Zeph. 2:10-11

You must be in fellowship prior to your Bible study, so that the spiritual information you receive can become a source, of blessing to your soul and produce spiritual growth.

Zeph. 2:10-11

10 This shall they have for their pride [ga'own] , because they have reproached [charaph.] and magnified [gadal] themselves against the people [am] of the LORD [Yahovah] of hosts [tsaba] .
11 The LORD [Yahovah] will be terrible [yare] unto them: for he will famish [razah] all the gods [elohiym] of the earth [erets] ; and men shall worship [shachah] him, every one [iysh] from his place [maqowm] , even all the isles [iy] of the heathen [gowy] . KJV-Interlinear

10 This they will have in return for their pride, because they have taunted and become arrogant against the people of the LORD of hosts. 11 The LORD will be terrifying to them, for He will starve all the gods of the earth; and all the coastlands of the nations will bow down to Him, everyone from his own place. NASB

Just a quick reminder that we are indeed studying the book of Revelation In our current study, we came to Zephaniah from Revelation 15:1. Zephaniah is the study of a deluded people. With much of the information in this book referring to future prophecies to be fulfilled in the Tribulation, but also the principles of doctrine apply to each generation and to each individual throughout history. This means you and me.

The sin of Moab and Ammon was their pride. We all know that arrogance goes before the fall, but most do not connect this to the principle that arrogance is the foundation for all sin and the consequent rejection of God. You might want to refer to and re-familiarize yourself with the chart on the Index page of the web site, outlining the Human Carnal Nature.

Satan is the father of all lies. We have already studied this. Arrogance is the father of all negative attitude toward God. The stronger arrogance is in the life of the individual, then the more apt the person is to chase off after some other form of belief. This is the beginning of all other religions and false philosophies in the world. Their foundation is in sin (arrogance).

Rejecting God for a lie, leads ultimately to violence against truth (God and Gods people). Since the lie cannot produce anything good, then frustration sets in. That will be our study (eventually) in Habakkuk - the study of frustration. Frustration leads to anger, leads to hate, leads to sorrow or poor me or revenge, and so forth.

And all of this leads to Gods judgment against all that is evil.

Before judging the nations to the north and south, Zephaniah teaches of the judgment of the nations which are to the east of Judah. We have already seen the judgment of the nations to the west. This is not a chronological sequence of judgment, but it is a philosophical pattern of how people got to the point of being judged.

Recall the nations to the west were condemned because of their inability to weigh out their priorities. God has no value to them. This leads to sin as described in the nations to the east, Moab and Ammon. They are used as the pattern of all that is anti-God. All sin is contrary to truth, therefore all sin is against God. Whether it is a sin of a sexual nature, of a verbal nature, of an overt nature, or merely of indifference toward God - sin is sin and it is all against God.

The world takes its frustrations out not against God, because it cannot approach God, but it can lay hold of believers and there is the victim or target of the worlds reproach - believers.

Thus we have verse ten. Arrogance is the basis for the attacks against believers throughout history. But since people cannot know whether a person is a believer or not - there is not little green light attached to the head of a believing person, then the world simply takes out its antagonism against anyone and everyone. That is Satan's policy. Attack all of humanity and you'll get the believers in the process.

But in verse eleven we see that God is terrifying when He is in judgment mode. God is terrifying only to those who have ignored, or rejected, Him.

The false beliefs which an unbelieving and/or negative world pursues, will disappear, when God (Jesus Christ) returns at the Second Advent, and destroys all unbelievers and all negative believers on planet earth.

When those who pursue the lie are gone, then the lie itself simply disappears. Those people who remain, will be only those mature believers who have obeyed God during the last half of the Tribulation. This we have already studied.

When all sources of idolatry have vanished, then there will be only one source of faith and that will be God through Jesus Christ. In the Millennium all remaining peoples will worship God (Jesus Christ), Mal. 1:11.

This same principle applies to you as an individual. When all false concepts disappear from your thoughts, then you will have and should have but one target for your faith. And that is of course Jesus Christ. You obliterate all false beliefs in you head, by conducting a daily study in Gods Word for yourself. Learning the truth about life gives you vision and discernment. You can only see things in life clearly when you know the truth about life. And knowing the truth about life comes from only one place - the Bible.

The only way you can learn form the Bible is to study it. But then that should be rather obvious, shouldn't it?

Now is the time to post a prayer.

End Of Lesson

Study to show thyself approved (mature) unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing (studying/discerning), the Word of truth.
